Frankie’s reputation is beginning to spread on the shoreline.  He currently has a few restaurants interested in the superior quality produce that he can provide.  If you don’t feel like cooking yourself, perhaps you’d like to try a meal at one these establishments.

Restaurants may order squash blossoms from Frankie. Contact him at the number above to make billing and delivery arrangements. To get you started, here’s a recipe for squash blossoms.

Squash Blossoms

2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 eggs, slightly beaten

2 cups milk
2 tablespoons shortening, melted
˝ pound fresh squash blossoms

Sift flour, add salt.
Combine beaten egg, mild and shortening; pour into flour mixture and stir until smooth.
Dip blossoms in the batter.

Drop into deep hot fat (365°F to 375°F) and fry until well browned on all sides, turning the blossoms as they rise to the surface; or fry them in a small amount of fat in a skillet.  Drain on absorbent paper.

Serve with butter and syrup. Makes breakfast for 4. Cut recipe in half to serve with butter at dinner.  Makes a side dish for 6.
