The city of Tundrumbalind is a kind of Martian equivalent of Timbouctou. But while it takes quite a long train ride to get there, a suborbital plane can get you there from anywhere on the planet in 45 minutes. Nevertheless the town, located on the eastern shore of the big lake in Lowell Crater, has preserved an authentic peacefull end-of-the world atmosphere. It's nearest neighbour, Makain Mushkil, a few thousand kilometres to the southeast, couldn't be a bigger contrast. This bustling city has a famous bazaar where you can get the most exotic products from all over the System. There are some smaller settlements, mainly in air-conditioned craters, but in general this is an area largely untouched by human activities, although the snowfilled craters of Redland certainly weren't filled with snow before the twenty-first century...
