Read these rules before you even consider joining this game. These are the laws of the land. It is scripture. So has it been written, so shall it be done. Break a rule and you will envy the dead.
1. Have fun! : Freelance Reploids is different than all the other MegaMan RPGs because it is the most lenient. You can be and do almost anything you want. We keep the game as loose as possible because a more rigid system would stifle creativity.
2. NO GOD-MODING : God-moding is when you do not take any (or a reasonable amount of) damage in combat and/or you kill your enemies way too easily. If you aren't at least semi-realistic then you will be removed from the game.
3. No Deities : You are not a god/goddess. You are not an angel, demon, or any other form of spiritual being. You may not recieve divine assistance from God to get you out of a jam. You have no relationship whatsoever with any extraplanar being.
4. Magic : To use magic in Freelance Reploids, your character must be biological (not a reploid) and you must take the Wizard personality concept. However, that will not let you flatten mountains with a gesture or kill people with a single word. There are 10 levels of power for magic users. Upon entering the game your level will be 3 or lower (based on if you want your character to be just discovering his or her powers or if you want them to be an experianced magic user). However, if your character type is Mage then you can start out at any Magic Level up to 5. (Spells cast at level 5 have about as much destructive power as a plasma blast. For more info regarding magic level, read this.) In order to increase your character's magical abilities, write your character practicing spells as often as possible. When you think you're ready to advance to the next level, talk with a GM and they'll decide if you've earned it. And don't forget that if your chosen character type is Mage then your magical skills will incease faster and be far more potent.
5. No Player Killing : You may not kill another player's character without his or her express permission.
6. NPCs : Non-Player Characters are minor characters created in the process of playing (such as the villain in a mission). You do not need to submit stats to create an NPC, just keep it reasonable. Anybody may kill an NPC, unless the player who created it has expressly asked that no one do so. If an NPC has been in the game long enough then they may eventually be added to the stats page.
7. Character Limit : Players are only allowed to have 2 Freelance Reploid characters in the game at any one time. (This excludes NPCs, of course, because those are community characters.)
8. Do not talk about Fight Club : Sorry. I couldn't resist.
9. Write Neatly : Use proper spelling and gramar in your RP posts. If you aren't sure about a word, look it up. The shift key is your friend. And proof reading is a really good habit to get into. Also, Freelance Reploids does have an official writing format : third person past tense.
10. Be Courteous : You don't have to be nice to everybody, just don't pick fights with other players. Plus, if you've been waiting a long time for a responce from the GMs, have patience. They're extremely busy.
11. No short posts : All posts in the SG must be at least a paragraph long. One word posts and no text posts are only allowed on the Bar board.
12. No NRPs in the SG : The Stomping Grounds board is strictly for Role Playing. If you have something to say out of character, post it on the Bar board.
13. No Unapproved Stats : Do NOT post unapproved or hypothetical stats. After your character has been approved by a GM, THEN you can post their stats on the Bar board.
14. No Rip-Offs : When creating a character, you must be original. You can not base your stats on an existing MM character, or a character from any other franchise for that matter. You cannot be Zero's twin brother, you cannot pull off a Kamehameha, and you cannot call upon Tuxedo Mask to bail you out.
15. No Amnesia : Characters may not have amnesia when they enter the game. That horse has been beaten to death. You have to come up with some kind of history and your character must be aware of it.
16. List Prices on Stat Submissions : When you submit character stats for approval, be sure to list all prices. (How much each weapon costs, how much you get back for each disadvantage, etc.)
17. Ranks/Promotions : The power of your character, and their authority in the Freelance Reploids organization, is determined by his or her rank. Go to the Ranks page to see the structure. Characters go up in rank by participating in missions.
18. Chain of Command : The ranking system only applies in the game world. In the real world there are only three ranks : Game Moderator, Assistant Game Moderator, and Player. Everyone must follow the instructions of the GMs, but player seniority among other players is determined solely by who has been in the game the longest.
19. Game Reward System : The weapons and equipment that you purchase during character creation are only what you start out with when you enter the game. If you're already in the game and would like to aqcuire an item or a skill then just ask a GM for permission. (But bear in mind that the max limits are still in effect.) If the GM decides that you have done well in recent missions then they will give you permission and all you have to do is write a post where your character buys the weapon, finds the accessory, learns the new attack, or whatever.
20. Teleportation Restrictions : Your character may not have or use a teleportation device unless it has been approved by whoever is running that particular mission. In the game, the Freelance Reploids do not have their own Satellite Network and therefore can not port around the world unless they're working for a client who is rich enough to have one and generous enough to let them use it. However, the real reason for this rule is that being able to just teleport in or out of a situation makes things way too easy.
21. Elemental Absorbtion : Just to clarify the Elemental Absorbtion attribute, it means that your character is strengthened by contact with a certain element. It does not, however, repair physical damage. For instance, if a reploid has Electricity Absorbtion and is struck by lightning then it would fully recharged his power cells, but would not automaticaly heal previous wounds that he had taken.
22. Conserve Board Space : Don't clutter up the NRP board by starting a new thread for every little thing. If there's something short you want to mention, just add it to an existing thread even if it's unrelated.
