Welcome to the Freelance Reploids Character Creation Walkthrough. This will guide you through the process of making your own FR character. Before you begin, please make sure that you've read over the game's Rules page so that you don't submit an illegal character. There are five easy steps to building a Freelance Reploid :
Class / Type Concept(s) Attributes Equipment Description As you can see, the first step is to select a character class and type. This is the foundation from which the rest of your character is built, so choose wisely.
Hitman - The Hitman is the most popular mercenary class because it is the best all around. They are formidable fighters and have above average speed, strength, endurance, armor toughness, weapon power, etc. They do not naturally excel in any specific area, but they also have no particular weaknesses. This class is an excellent choice because of its ability to handle almost any situation, and has such broad versatility that it is the only class not divided into seperate types.
Ranger - Rangers are built for two things: Stealth and Speed. They may not be the strongest mercenaries or wear the toughest armor, but they're the absolute best when it comes to covert ops. The two Ranger types are Interceptor and Infiltrator.
Interceptor :
This is the fastest type of character you can create. Their speed makes them excellent scouts and commandoes. Interceptors often buy the Daredevil and Lightning Relfexes attributes.
Infiltrator :
Infiltrators are experts at deception and information gathering. Their stealth skills are unmatched and their intelligence is second only to Intellect class characters, a combination that makes them ideal spies or con artists. Infiltrators commonly purchase the Linguistics, Computer Knowledge and Street Smarts attributes, and almost always have the Con personality concept.
Demolitionist - If doing serious damage is what you love then then this is the class for you. Demolitionists are the toughest characters and use the most powerful weapons in the game. Their methods may lack subtlety and finesse, but who needs a scalpel when you can use a broadsword? The two types of Demolitionists are Berserker and Bomber.
Berserker :
Berserkers have the strongest armor in the game and can therefore take the most punishment. What they lack in speed they more than make up for in constitution, for a Berserker is nearly invulnerable to damage. That's why they often engage in close combat fighting, rellying upon powerful short range and melee weapons. However, some Berserkers are so big that they use their own bodies as living wrecking balls. Not even buildings stand a chance against them. Sometimes they purchase the Abnormally Large Size advantage, as well as an Elemental Invulnerability.
Bomber :
Far more underhanded than their Berserker counterparts, Bomber characters preffer using powerful long ranged. This includes missiles, bazookas, flame throwers, grenades, bombs set on any sort of detonator, and even land mines. Bombers aren't as slow as Berserkers, but that is because their armor is much lighter. Bombers often purchase mechanical knowledge (allowing them to sabotage machines, build explosives, etc).
Assassin - Assassins posses stealth and speed almost equal to that of Rangers. But, unlike Rangers, Assassins have only one purpose: to kill. And they are good at it. The power of their attacks is second only to that of Demolitionists, but far less clumsy. The drawback of Assassins is that they wear very light armor and lack endurance. That is why Assassins specialize in attacking one target at a time. They can become exhausted or overwhelmed in a chaotic brawl, so they usually leave the drawn out melee combat to the sturdy Hitman class characters. The two Assassin types are Sniper and Ninja.
Sniper :
Snipers are expert marksmen that use distance weapons such as lasers and rifles. They are terrific at (but not limited to) making long range shots. Snipers can hit a bullseye from incredible distances and use their stealth skills to do it without being detected. It usually comes in handy for Snipers to purchase several Acute Senses.
Ninja :
Ninja is the best character type for close combat. They are assassins who use martial weapons (like swords) and throwing weapons (such as knives or shirukens), but are also proficient at unarmed fighting. Ninjas often purchase the Daredevil and Kung-Fu advantages.
Intellect - Intellects are thinkers, not fighters. They aren't as strong, fast or agile as the other classes, but they more than make up for it with their smarts. The Intellect's skill at complex thought makes them one of the most powerful classes in the game. The two Intellect types are Scientist and Mage.
Scientist :
These can be anything from medical doctors to battle stragegists to astrophysicists. Their high intelligence makes them useful to many organizations, often even in leadership positions. Scientists usually purchase extensive knowledge advantages. For instance, anatomy lets them heal/repair other characters, mechanics lets them build devices or reploids, and the benefit of computers skills is obvious.
Mage :
Mages are magic users. Characters devoted to the study and practice of the mystical arts. Any character in the game has the potential to use magic, but for Mages it is much easier and much more potent. Mages must be biological (not reploids), must have the Wizard personality concept, and almost always purchase the Arcane Knowledge attribute.
