Maggie
|
We got Maggie in August 2001 when she was 15 years old. Her family had just gotten a new puppy, so they took Maggie to the pound and left her there to die. A vet tech who worked for the shelter saved her just before she was scheduled to be euthanized ("put to sleep") and drove her halfway across the state to us. As with DJ and Tiny, we had planned to foster Maggie until a permanent home could be found, but we quickly got attached to her and decided to keep her here with us.
Maggie is very spry for an old lady. She dances and spins circles when she's hungry and her tail never stops wagging (and to think someone had this dog for 15 years then abandoned her to die!). Maggie loves everyone she meets, especially if they're offering food or a belly rub. She's the only one of our dogs who enjoys having baths. She gets excited when she hears the water running in the shower and will run and sit by the bathtub waiting for someone to put her in! Maggie's all-time favorite hobby is sleeping and she even has her very own queen-size bed (though she usually lets the humans share it with her so she can have someone to snuggle with).
