Oh, great, the Korean War is back on.
The Graduate had rehearsal this morning so we were on our own for some caching. We found an earth cache of a glacial erratic, found a few and not some others. There's a guy in Peoria who leaves very cleverly camo'd caches (including the one we didn't find yesterday, which he gave us a hint for last night) and also ones down sewer pipes. We were looking for one of those yesterday and had a cacher stop by and tell us where it was. Never mind.
One we found, all was good, then I stepped in some squishy mud. This meant I went in stocking feet in the house. We stopped by for lunch and picked up the Graduate. Of the 9 caches I'd run with the low terrain ratings, we found 5 and didn't find 4. It was fun, anyway. The Graduate loves Piers Anthony and told us a lot about Xanth (long time since I've read these) and the Intimations of Immortality series, which I've never read. I talked to him about the Miles Vorkasigan series, he reads Piers Anthony. I suggested Terry Pratchett. The Graduate reads Piers Anthony.
We got him back in time to get ready for graduation. Then we underestimated how many people would be going, and ended up parking way off in a field. We parked close to an entrance so we wouldn't get blocked and wouldn't get stuck in the mud (which happened to people later) and made our way to the gym. We used our cellphone to tell our son where we were. It was a good location: we could see the Graduate march in, and the whole graduation thing.
Two speeches, not bad. One said "the tassel was worth the hassle." Both quoted Dr. Seuss. And the second one was calling them all Sirs and Dames since they are the Richwoods Knights, and he mentioned the Graduate by name. p>The actual graduation went quickly. Then we had trouble getting together afterwards... we do this again, we bring the Yarnot flag!
We went to dinner at Ruby Tuesdays. The Graduate's big present was a notebook computer. I'm quite envious. It's small so he can carry it at college. Of course, right now it's being used for games!
It was late, so we decided to go straight back to the motel.
