So, yesterday I didn't watch TV, but I went to see the French movie, 8 Women. It was funny, in a strange sort of way. All the cliches of the country-house murder, crossed with a musical of sorts.

I got a kick out of George Wills' description of Hans Blix, "a combination of Mr. Magoo and Inspector Clouseau."

We went over to Novato today. First we dropped off some metal at the metal recycling in Davis. It was busy! Rich said they even had the kitchen sink! Then we saw a license plate frame for the "Dominican University Penguins" and fell about laughing. (Dominican is a woman-only school run by nuns.)

Roni gave a Discovery Toy party today. They have some lovely things. Buy a lot, tell her I sent you! It was also nice to see a couple of Roni's friends from college again. Alex was particularly taken with a pegboard toy. The other child there loved a lacing toy. I bought items for the three toddlers in my life for Christmas. I did NOT, however, get "My First Accordian." Alex's greatgrandmother was a concert pianist. How are the mighty fallen! Roni says it's the Polish coming out.

Rand comments, once again, on "the war." We haven't yet beat Japan. Priest suggests his brethern do the right thing.
