We went bowling today. I lost a pin on my average by bowling 112, 126, 122. This gets me back to 125. However, I had a great frame when I converted a 4-6-10 split! Rich had a great day, 179, 182, 181. Both codgers also raised their averages by one or two pins. We won three, lost one. We started in 8th place, but we do seem to be doing well.
One of the opposing team brought printouts of If Dads Raised Kids by Themselves and we all laughed hysterically. One of my team codgers is concerned about profiling Iraqis.
Then Rich and I went to the credit union and moved most of my bank account money into a money market account. I have realized since dealing with the estate money that a CU gives a much better return than a savings account. It seems stupid that I haven't moved it long ago.
I am, to quote Daschle, very disappointed. I was certain binLaden was really truly dead. Mind you, an audiotape leads to a lot of interesting speculation on his condition... or has he had face-altering surgery? (I also know the "spectacular" target that would do a lot of damage, and since I'm not the only person to speculate on this, though I came up with it independently, I can probably mention it: a dirty bomb at the Macy's parade would be a doozy. I just hope the Fibbies are on top of this.)
Instapundit comments on Homeland Security:
overall, "security" isn't the best response to terrorists. Guards are sure to get bored and can't be the best. Terrorists only have to have one good day; guards have to be good all the time, which is impossible. The best defense against terrorists is to kill them first. The Israelis, contrary to popular belief, haven't really done that, because we haven't let 'em. We should start letting them, and we should do it ourselves. That will do more good than any number of searches or metal detectors, and with far less damage to civil liberties at home.
Lileks. And, I just like the name, Agenda Bender, for this gayblog.
