| The Otago Rock and Mineral club is for people who are interested in Minerals, Fossils, Micro mounted minerals, carving, cabochon making and silversmithing or just have a general interest in Geology. The age group seems to range from one to 80 odd. If you are not fit enough for field trips there are still the interesting meetings to attend. Minerals and specimens can often be swapped or bought at auctions or off other members. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| People often donate specimens to the club and for a nominal amount these can be added to personal collections. | The Club newsletter the "Fossil" | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The Otago Rock and Mineral Club have a monthly newsletter called "the Fossil" that gives information on the next meeting, field trips and articles on different areas of interest to rock hounds. The "Fossil" also lists coming events around other New Zealand rock clubs. The items make interesting reading and promote mineral and fossil knowledge as well as a bit of basic Geology; Members are sent this newsletter on joining. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
