Most FIRST teams prefer to divide the chassis design to a basic platform
and an additional platform for the appendage to allow for more time in
the design phase needed to perfect a robot to perform a desired task.
Drive Chassis
Normally the drive chassis is as basic as possible to limit fabrication
time. The function is to provide an adequate stable base for the remainder
of the robot to be positioned on.
Appendage Chassis
Similar to the drive train chassis in function, the appendage chassis
should easily bolt to and unbolt from the robot to allow for repairs,
maintenance, and easy construction.
