My eyes snapped open as I found myself staring at a ceiling. It was an off white, almost cream colored ceiling. Pretty average as ceilings go. Except for one thing. It was not my ceiling.
Where am I? I looked down and see I was covered by a warm, kind of fuzzy blanket. Looked like it was made of pocket lint and then dyed blue.

Well at least I knew I was safe. Last I checked villains do not cover you in furry blankets while gently letting you come to. I carefully turned my head to see a mass of black hair atop a tee shirt and pair of shorts. Without seeing a face I could already tell who it was. Even curled up on her many beanbag chairs, she still has some the best legs I have ever seen. I felt kinda of bad because she also had a perfectly good bed to sleep in.

I began to stretch out when I my chronometer caught my eye: 11:45AM.

My
Manipulation of Ethereal Energies 202 class with Mr. Binder. I missed it. I am so Dead. I focused for a moment. The air around me got a bit more still. It's a simple spell that lowers the ambient sound by causing the air molecules to not vibrate as you move around. That and bit of earth magic prevents the floor and other things from vibrating. It's perfect for not waking anyone up.

I carefully slid off the couch. I could almost hear the floor squeak in my head.

When my foot hit the ground, I winced. The floors were freezing. They looked like hardwood, but I really can't say I see Jhaelyn paying out the 5,000 credits a square foot to put it in her apartment. So it must be Synth-Wood, which is a whole lot cheaper. Her walls were same color as the ceiling and she had big bay windows to let in the light. On the far wall there was what looked like a ballerina practice bar. Well that would explain the legs.

I had begun to fold the cover when I saw Lyssra shift her weight. I gently placed the furry cover over her. The moment it was on she stretched out.

There was a note screen on the coffee table. I tapped out a quick note to her, found my shoes which were near Lyssra's blast board, and saw mine was nowhere in sight. The morning was going progressively downhill. Without my blastboard I would never make it to Mr. Binder's office hours.

I picked up my shoes and padded out Lyssra's door. I heard loudly the click of her door locking. I put my shoes on in the hallway and jogged to the elevator. I figured that when I got back to my room I could activate the GPS that was in the board. That way I would have an idea where it was in the city. All I would have had to do was get within 100 meters to activate the auto start feature. So by the time elevator had opened to my floor, I had a perfect plan that would hopefully let me get my board back my mid afternoon.

Thats when I saw the two men standing my door at the end of the hallway. I froze for second until I noticed both of them were well dressed. One of them was slightly tapping his foot, and occasionally looking at his watch. Jhaelyn.

I relaxed at that point. Jhaelyn would never let anyone in who caused even a remote problem. In the other gentleman's hands was my Blastboard.

I always put my address on the bottom of my Blastboard in case it is ever lost. Jhaelyn added a Reward If Found section to it and put his Globalcel-phone number on it. It was most likely talking to Jhaelyn that got the guy to bring my board. As I got closer I finally recognized who was with him holding my board. Mr. Binder.

My stomach fell to somewhere in the basement.

Yeah. I'm dead.
