| Maxis, I got something for you." Jhaelyn said tossing the Blastboard at me. I caught it with one hand. "What happened?" I wonder how Jhaelyn can give tours of the city. He's so to the point they couldn't be fun. "I thought you had taken care of it." I said. He looked at me kind of blankly for moment. Well maybe not blankly, it was more of his, "get to the point" stare. "Well one of Lyssra's furrier admirers had decided if he couldn't have her, a Maxis shaped punching bag would make a great consolation gift." Jhaelyn looked incredibly annoyed, and a bit guilty. "Knew I should have given him the damned Airfish." He muttered. "Hey, that stuff is incredibly poisonous if not prepared property." "Yes Maxis. I am well aware of this. You went on at length about it last week." Mr. Binder kind of raised one eyebrow at the conversation. "Air fish?" "I have a culinary class sir." "Well, Mr. Spellstorm, you are just full of surprises" "I am?" The last time I heard him use that tone of voice was when he was looking at my visor. Right after that he wanted a twelve page paper explaining how mystic energies were related to standard terrestial energy sources. "Well Mr Spellstorm, Im a busy man. I dont not have time to waste, but I came here for two things. First to return this infernal thing you use for transporation, and second to compliment you on last night." Compliment? Last night all I could remember was passing out with Lyssra being pounded into the Empire Walk, and then waking up in her apartment. I figured she had handled it. "It was quite the display." Mr. Binder said with a nod. I was still a little shocked, but if he was actually impressed it might not be so bad. "So my wayward student, your assignment is to determine how much force it takes to cause a catostrophic failure within a level one circle of holding using the following variables. 1. The circle is complete and flawless. 2. The opposing force inside the circle is the same force or forces the circle was erected to withstand. 3. It is caused by a single strike against the circle. The paper must be at least ten pages in length, single spaced, with all calculations and outside sources sited and noted. Congratulations Mr Spellstorm. You are the first student I have ever seen do that. The paper must be on my desk in 2 weeks." And with that he calmly turned around, began to walk down the hallway and faded away. I kinda plopped down on floor of the hallway as he disappeared. Well for starters I have to learn how he did that cool teleportation. But I wont start Translocational Theory 101 until during the second part of the semster. Number two, his question was impossible. It was like asking, if you fill an unbreakable glass of water with water, when will the water break the glass. It cant because the glass is unbreakable. And finally, how did I do that? I was still sitting on the floor when Jhaelyn, now talking on his phone, walked past and patted me on the head. He put the phone on mute and said, "Looks like youve got you some work ahead of you." Then he smiled and went back to his call. When can a guy get a break? I want a vacation. Maxis Spellstorm |
