NOTES FROM THE FIRST MEETING
Forbes, 22 March 2005

The first meeting of Forbes Shire Council’s Arts and Cultural Working Group was held at 5.30 pm on Tuesday 22 March, 2005 in the Forbes Town Hall Concourse.

Decision No. 1
That Council’s Heritage, Environment, Community Development and Tourism Committees be invited to send a representative to the Arts and Cultural Working Group.

Moved: Graham Falconer. Seconded: Marg Willmott. Carried

Decision No. 2
That invitations to the next meeting be sent to all Media outlets (Radio 2PK & ROKFM, WIN TV, Prime Television, ABC 2CR, Radio 2LVR, Lachlan Valley Community Radio Inc, Forbes Advocate, Central Western Daily, The Land Newspaper); and that invitations also be sent to the following community organizations: Amaroo Aboriginal Corporation; Anglicare; all Arts and Crafts groups; Churches across all denominations; CentaCare (including DAKS); College for Seniors; Country Women’s Association (in each community); Forbes Dance School (Lia De Vries); Forbes Family History Group; Forbes and District Historical Society; Forbes Eisteddfod Committee; Forbes Library; Forbes Promotion and Development Inc; Forbes Town; Band; Forbes Youth Council and Youth Group; Jazz Festival Committee; Lachlan Valley Pipes and Drums; Masonic Lodge; Movie Theatre; National Trust; Principals and staff of all Shire schools (Forbes High, Red Bend Catholic College, Bedgerebong Primary, Corinella Primary, Eugowra Primary, Forbes Primary, Forbes North Primary, St Joseph's Primary, Eugowra, and St Laurence’s Primary, Forbes); Musical and Dramatic Society; Probis; Rotary Club; Toastmasters; Urban Landcare Group; View Club; and Yoorana Gunya Family Violence Healing Centre (Donna Bliss).

Decision No. 3
That the Chairperson write a press release about the next meeting of the Working Group to be sent to all local media (see above) through Council (Richard Barwick).

NEXT MEETING: April 16th, 2005
At its next meeting the Forbes Shire Council’s Arts & Culture Working Group will open the floor to a broad discussion about what makes Forbes special, and what yet needs to be done to make the Shire an even better place for the thousands of locals who daily engage in cultural pursuits.
