Note: I did not include tips about how to do your Top Page. You can send me any questions via e-mail or check the following websites-- http://help.yahoo.com/help/360/ , http://blog.360.yahoo.com/product_360?p=6318, or http://groups.yahoo.com/group/360-Forum/links . (The 3rd URL is to free forum you can join to see questions that other users have had and where answers/suggestions are posted.) I would caution you to give very little name and location information, because of possible identity theft or wicked individuals who use such for locating individuals for evil purposes.
1. Before using 360, be sure to communicate thanksgiving to God and tell Him you need His help via the Holy Spirit. The latter guides true Christians perfectly in what to say to others.
2. In the Settings, you can set up to receive alerts about new messages and invitations or new blog comments. I did the alerts for a few months, but I daily get so many, I finally unchecked the box for the new messages and invitations. Also in the Settings, in the Basic Info, you can turn on the simple URL address if you don't mind your ID to be notices. Since my 360 account is not connected to my main e-mail accounts, I have decided to do that.
3. To invite people to your friends list, you can use the Search too. When you get an Invite, check the Top Page by clicking on the ID picture and check some of the blogs. I did not use the search too, but my responses to others messages, my blogs, and my blog postings influenced others to send invites to their sites. You can copy your Friends List into Excel or MS Word to make a check-off list. Within a year, I had the limit of 250 and later 300 on my Friends List. Apparently others used the Search tool with the word Bible and found my site. So include key words of your interests in your Top Page for such searched by others. In the Settings page, you can make it so that others besides those on your Friends List can see and respond to your blog. You should not restrict such just because you get criticized. Spiritual warfare is part of God-pleasing ministries that emphasize Biblical truths. You can do the Ignore feature on the left hand side of the individuals Top Page and remove an individual from your Friends List using the Remove feature to the right of his or her ID if you need to obey 2 Timothy 3:5. (Also arguing doesnt accomplish anything.)
4. The best way to read/reply to your messages is to just go to the Mailbox. Going from the alerts in your e-mail can cause problems. My main problem was if I responded to the first alert, then it would go back to the alert when I sent the response. But if I went to the Mailbox from the alert, I was able to respond one by one, and after each response or delete, it went back to the Inbox.
5. When you reply to someones message, only use the Reply All option when your response is very important, like for exhortation about anything that is unBiblical in the message. Reply privately to only the author of the message for if the Holy wants you write statements rebuke. (Matthew 18:15) For any exhortation or rebuke, make sure you have Biblical support. Whenever you respond to messages, blogs, or blog comments, remember what the Golden Rule is. I translate the latter, Think before I say and do anything, would I want it said or done to me?
6. The limit in each message box is less than 2000 characters including spaces. Apparently, the IDs of those you are sending the response to are included in the character account. Notice that some messages have several comments. On prayer requests, I usually only respond to the author of the prayer need. Sometimes I will respond to a forwarder if he or she is on my Friends List.
7. There is a limit of 500 messages total in the Inbox and Send boxes together. If you reach that total, 360 will not send the message you want to send. If that happens press the Back Arrow and copy your message so that you can paste it in another message box after you delete some of the Inbox or/and Sent box. Beware, sometimes Yahoo doesn't delete items you try to delete immediately and won't take the yellow sun away from those messages you read. Later such will be done after you shift to other pages, like your blog. Also, the best way to delete messages in the Inbox is to press the Last icon, the Check All icon, and the Delete icon. The Previous icon will show that last 10 messages. Repeat the process each time you want to delete more. If you want to save a few, undo the check in the box to the left of the items you don't want deleted. In the Send box, you will just have to press the Last icon the first time and then the Previous icon from then on after each group of 10 messages (or less) deletions. Use the Check All feature and un-click the boxes of the ones you dont want deleted. 8. In doing a blog post, you can replace the date with the title of your item. In the text area, what you see is not what you will get. For example, the centering does not work at the top. Indenting with spaces will work, but the width of each line will be less than it appears. You will have to edit later if any line overflows to the left. If you want a blogs title on the right hand side, click the Show Options icon below the blog write area and click on the box to the right of Highlight this blog entry. If you want to have this done to a previous blog posts, just click the Edit icon and do the just mentioned instruction.
9. Use the Blast feature at the top of your My Page to make any announcements. It can be changed at the top of your My Page or on the left side of your Home. The latter is what others see and the former is for you to do make changes for the Top Page.
10. There is a page that will show you any recent comments. Click the Blog Comments tab at the top of your My Blog page. You can also set it to alert you when a comment is made in the Settings page. I recommend responding to the comments and teach some more related information. I will send a copy of my response to the individuals not on my Friends List. Remember that you can delete inappropriate comments. When I make a mistake, on mine response, I copy the message and pasted it into the textbox below. After making the corrections, I post it and delete the bad one.
11. I suggest you do daily the following:
(a) Check and respond to the Messages. For new blogs that you read and like, you can do an Edit/Paste Special/ Unformatted Text if you dont want the pictures. I also do an Edit/Select All font change and delete unnecessary lines to save a page or two. If I include the comments, I insert lines in the Comment section before the ID (which should be right above the first line of the comment) and after the date of the comment. (b) Go to the Home page to see notifications for others new blogs and blasts. I have copied many blogs and sometimes also the comments of others for sharing as text or attachments in later e-mails to others. There is a Show All icon at the top and at the bottom.
(c) Check the Quick Comments on the Home page. I usually post a response there and sometimes post Quick Responses on the best authors' Top Pages and sometimes send a Message instead. There is a Show All icon. 12. Post a blog whenever the Holy Spirit urges. |
