DID YOU KNOW?...
     ~ 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys will be sexually abused before the age of 18
     ~ Over 71 % of child abuse is commited by someone the child knew and trusted (ie; relatives, close family friends)
     ~ Approx 1/3 of all juvenile victims of sexual abuse cases are children under the age of 6
     ~ According to the 1996 U.S Dept of Justice Statistics report, only 37% of rapes and sexual assults are ever reported
     ~ Somewhere in the U.S, a woman is raped approx every 2 mins BUT somewhere in the WORLD a child is being abused every few seconds..

With shocking figures like that, why do people continue to turn a blind eye??
PARENTS PLEASE TEACH YOUR CHILDREN!!

Our children NEED to know;

- the difference between safe and unsafe touches
- the proper terms (names) for private parts
- safety rules apply to ALL adults NOT just strangers
- their bodies BELONG TO THEM; its NOT alright for another person to touch their private areas
(*in situations such as physical exams by a doctor, the parent should be present*)
-
It's okay to say "NO!" no matter who the person is
-
they should not keep secrets about touching no matter what the person says; if someone touches them, they should tell and keep telling until somebody listens!!!
DISCLAIMER ~ I AM NOT AN OFFICER OF THE LAW NOR AM I A MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL ETC..AS POSTED AT THE BEGINNING OF THIS SITE I AM AN ORDINARY EVERYDAY WOMAN. WHO FEELS STRONGLY ABOUT THIS SUBJECT.
PARENTS

What YOU need to know;

- ALL children are vulnerable to sexual abuse no matter what their cultural background or income level is
- children need to feel loved, valued and protected
- one of the best ways to protect a child is by teaching them. Give them the knowledge and skills necessary for their safety and well-being
- often there are no physical signs of sexual abuse
- sexual abuse often goes unreported because many times the child feels too ashamed or afraid to tell anyone.
- the child is NEVER TO BLAME
- there is little evidence that children make false allegations of abuse, whats more common is a child denying that abuse ever happened when it actually has
