Course Description

BTEC DIplomas at Level 2 provide the underpinning knowledge, understanding and skills that are needed to prepare for future studies or employment.

This course is spread over 2 years and on successful completion of this qualification you will be able to progress onto university or enter employment in a variety of IT subject areas and progress into a career.

 

What qualifications do I get?

On successful completion of this course you will receive a certificate for:

Edexcel BTEC Level 2 Diploma in IT

This qualification has a credit value of 120 and is equivalent to 2 ‘A’ levels, allowing you to progress to or within employment or to continue your studies at university.

 

How will I be assessed?

This qualification is assessed in a number of different way i.e. assignments, observations, practical assessments, video and photographic evidence etc. Submission dates will be set and you will get feedback on your work which will enable you to complete your units.

All assessments are criterion referenced, based on the achievement of specified learning outcomes. Each unit within the qualification has specified assessment and grading criteria which are used to grade your work. A summative unit grade can be awarded at pass, merit or distinction but:
- To achieve a ‘pass’ you must achieve all of the pass criteria
- To achieve a ‘merit’ you must achieve all of the pass and merit criteria
- To achieve a ‘distinction’ you must achieve all of the pass, merit and distinction criteria

What standards do I need in order to join the course?

You must have:

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above including IT and English or minimum Level 2 literacy, or BTEC First Diploma Merit or Distinction or GNVQ Int ICT Merit or Distinction or equivalent Level 2 IT qualification, with Level 2 VSS qualifications in English and Maths.
