Betty and I have camped in Jetty Park since the 1960s.' We have seen the park grow from an open piece of land, with rest-rooms being the only structures, to its present well developed state. During the 70s' few people knew of the park and we would park our small trailer out there and fish for our food. Today we carry food with us, because the fish are fewer. This is not to imply that fishing is not good because it is still fun, but the fish are not as abundant as they were.

For hookups it is wise to make reservations early (90 days is good).

A Few More Scenes From The Park
[Beach] [Light Module]

Looking at the swimming beach from the pier. The ocean is rough in this picture. Normally the water is much calmer, not more than 1 to 2 foot waves. On this day the wind was blowing hard and had been all night, so we had waves.

The ocean end of the jetty. The waves were smartly breaking over the Jetty Light. The light had failed during the night. It is an automatic unmanned light, so it was not fixed immediately.

[Launching equipment] [Bearly a home 1]

We are looking at some of the older missile launch equipment located on Cape Canaveral Air Station. This equipment is not the oldest visible from the pier. Farther to the north, out of this picture, the original equipment can be seen without the aid of field glasses.

Betty's "Barely a home" setting under some trees. Betty's old Oldsmobile is also in the picture.

[Bearly a home 2] [Bearly a home 3]

Barely A Home as viewed from the entrance road into the park. This camp site is located next to the park office, so it is convenient to the store, but is a bit more public than most campers like. We like this site and will use it again.

Barely A Home displaying its awning. When the Florida summer sun shines an awning is almost a necessity. This particular camp site has a lot of shade.
