While she was a child Betty began tent and
windbreak camping with her father in the woods around Valley Forge,
Pennsylvania. They fished for food and enjoyed the outdoor life. After
that, she gave up the outdoor life for life in the big city of
Philadelphia. Mean while, I began windbreak camping with some friends in a swamp near my home in Chesapeake, Virginia. Sometimes we would camp in a pine woods area near my home. Later, while in the military I camped in tents. Real tents - now that was the good life. After that, I gave up the outdoor life for life in the big city of Philadelphia. While living the life in the big city of Philadelphia we met and here we are 40 plus years later back camping, but not in windbreaks. We began camping in tents in about 1965 in Connecticut. In 1968 we bought our first camping trailer. We purchased it in North Charleston, SC and it was a new Norris Vicki. The trailer was a 25 foot deluxe unit that was as fully equipped as a trailer came in those days. I told my employer that we wanted to travel and use our trailer. So, we lived in it for a year while I traveled with my work. We (Frank, Betty, Diane and Sherry) lived in the trailer through the heat of a Florida summer and the cold snows of Portsmouth, Virginia in the winter. It was a wonderful year. From that time until now we have had a succession of trailers. Most were small because we used them for overnighters and not to live in. It has been a wonderful adventure. February 1997 we decided to buy the class C, El Dorado RV we now own. So far, the longest trip has been to Chesapeake, Virginia. The unit performed well and it was a very enjoyable trip with an overnight stop in a KOA Kampground near Florence, South Carolina on the way to Virginia, and a overnight stop in another KOA Kampground, near Savannah, Georgia on the way home. During the year 2001 it became apparent that we could use a class B RV to drive around in and use for overnights. We purchased a 1995 23 foot Xplorer from a local dealer. It has performed very well and we are using it regularly for both day and overnighters. WE HAVE OWNED THE FOLLOWING CAMPERS
