Why Panasonic RX11 Video camera ?
Because ..... :
Color.... dedicated Color surveillance camera are expensive.
Auto focus. Usefully feature for surveillance system (always it's concentrating on moving parts... for example if a person is moving in visual field of camera, it's keeping focus in best position for obtaining clearly picture). Also is possible to use video signal for detecting motion and starting to record... How ?... In few words and very simplified explanation... When occur any movement, video chip from camera will detect changes on picture and by Video processing unit will send signal to motorized Auto focus system to make appropriate correction. You can detect power signal at electrical micro motor of Auto focus system and in cooperation with PIR motion detector to improve accuracy for triggering video recording.
There is possible to use special lens adapter (in combination with "0 lux light" feature) to see even through a cloth ( for example peoples which are covering their faces with textile masks ) .

I have designed these modification and circuits for
my own hobby use, and am presented here as it is. If you don't understand,
how the described circuitry works, better don't use it!. I have tested
the circuits presented in this page (all worked well for more than two
years), but there is no guarantee that, the circuit descriptions
and diagrams are entirely correct. I
will try to correct all the error in the circuit diagrams when I, or somebody
else finds these.

1 First step is to disassemble Video camera, removing motherboard, Lens assembly and Lens assembly front cover. Another parts, no need anymore for this project. In following pages there are some pictures showing disassembling process and also some advices :

2 Second step, after disassembling Video camera is to make modification for motherboard.To complete this job is necessary good skill in electronic field , good sight (use big magnifier) and at least but not at last, "steady hand". Work carefully, don't be in a hurry and pay attention to electrostatic charging, otherwise you can produce irreversible damage to motherboard...

3 Third step, is assembling all parts in suitable plastic case : PIR Motion Detector, modified motherboard with all connection, Lens assembly with cover and don't forget to fix also microphone board...To realize PAN and TILT movement for Camera (about 40 degree in any direction) I used motorized system for car's mirror.... I made some modification for adapting Camera case with base bracket . In this way, is possible to obtain enough mobility for Surveillance camera used in one Office room (Camera itself have 70 degree visual field).
I bought these for only few dollars from Car's scrap.... some crushed cars by accident, otherwise motorized mirrors system was almost new.... Mirrors from MERCEDES cars, get best results, also good results can achieve with Japanese car's mirrors.
