Our Films
Films by the Flying Spot Players, produced under the series title LIFE AS
WE KNOW IT.

Out of Sight, Out of Mind
In this short dramatic film, an incidental moment from daily
life is exaggerated to highlight the cause & effect relationship between
automobile emissions and the quality of our air. A man sits in his car, idling
his motor, completely oblivious to the fact that all living things within
twenty feet are dying from the exhaust fumes.
By making an effective use of visual humour, the film helps
raise awareness of environmental issues, and suggests that each of us has a
personal responsibility to help reduce pollution in our day-to-day lives.

Welcome to Our Humble Home
On a quiet residential street, an unsuspecting family
receives a strange visitor at their front door.... a gun-toting paramilitary
soldier who offers to come inside and demonstrate the use of firearms to the
family. After being swiftly chased away by an understandably irate parent,
'The Eliminator' finds a more socially acceptable means to gain access to the
house by appearing on the family's television screen.
By making effective use of their trademark visual humour,
The Flying Spot Players present a short drama that serves to question the
values we place in aspects of our popular culture.

The Obstacle Course
There's no escaping it. Every day we are targeted by
advertising and visual product promotions strategically positioned in
high-traffic areas of the contemporary marketplace.
With this in mind, The Flying Spot Players take a look inside
a modern convenience store, where aggressive floor displays and seductive
point-of-purchase presentations compete for the attention of the vulnerable
customer. Using the store to represent the general retail environment, the film
caricatures the way we are now required to negotiate a virtual obstacle course
in the simple task of obtaining daily provisions.
