Rain showers failed to eventuate as McLaren scored 11 points from David Coulthard's 5th place and Kimi Raikonnen's 2nd place in yesterday's Austrian Grand Prix. Kimi's drive was exceptional considering the Finn drove with reduced revs for the latter half of the race. The reason behind the decision to drop the revs on the McLaren related heavily to a valve problem experienced with Raikonnen's car early on Sunday morning. Raikonnen came under great pressure from Barrichello's Ferrari in the closing laps but was able to stave off the Brazillian to retain his lead in the drivers world championship. David Coulthard from 14th on the grid drove steadily to finish 5th, a poor result brought about by difficult qualifying. A previous winner in Austria (2001) David was off the pace all weekend due to a setup problem. German Micheal Schumacher won the race after Juan Pablo Montoya's Williams' engine blew at half distance. | |
