Hello, Thanks for visiting this site. My name is Paul and I'm the ugly schmuck in the photo to your right.
About me & my philosophy
Take life seriously, for those who laugh are often laughing at your expense. It's easy to be a failure, but no matter what, you must concentrate on averting further disaster. You see others of whom possess everything you ever wanted. Take no notice of them, for they are fortunate and you are not. Muster what you can for yourself and take pride in your lesser achievements, because you have worked hard where others are the recipients of luck. Luck is an evil, hurtful element of life that only blesses the unworthy.
Formula One
The first F1 race I ever saw was back in Australia 1994. One year later I visited my first and only F1 race, it was an absolute privaledge to watch Damon Hill take the chequered flag. I have been an F1 enthusiast for much of the better part of my life.
From the years of 1994 to 1997 I supported cheerful Brit Damon Hill. From then onwards I have been a fan of Mika Hakkinen and McLaren. Mika is the one of the best human role models I have observed. I am a McLaren fan through and through. I think it got to the point though where I took F1 too seriously; it was the determining factor in my mental health - but hey, when it comes to F1 it's 'go hard or go home!'. McLaren wins have been a rarity for much of the last 3 years, so each one is cherished.
My favourite all time race: Definately Mika Hakkinen's win in Britain 2001. You had to be a true blue Hakkinen fan to realise that this was an end to the filthy season every McLaren fan had had up until then. We never thought we'd see Hakka on the top step ever again.
Disaster moment:
The most sickening moment of my life was when Hakkinen's McLaren had a clutch failure on lap 65 of 65 at the Spanish GP 2001. The win would have been Mika's 4th consecutive win at the circuit - something I could have gloated about to Ferrari fans for all eternity.
Favourite season: 2000 - probably. I know Schumacher won in the end, but the Hakkinen/McLaren comeback from 28 points down at the Canadian GP to being 6 pts infront after the thrilling Belgian GP was the most pleasantly shocking time of my life (if that makes any sense?)
Hated season: 2001 - emphatic calamity. So much hope yet so much disaster. From the suspension failure in Australia, to the unfavourable conditions in Malaysia, the startline failure in Brazil, the last lap disaster in Spain followed by more failures in Monaco, Germany and Italy, not to mention two more startline failures (meaning Mika didn't get off the grid at all) in Austria and France.
