Race Preview - Japan 2003
Still alive11/10/03 - That losing feeling... again.
Kimi Raikkonen finished a credible second in the 2003 World Championship. Despite a win and 7 second place finishes, the season ended disappointingly with both McLaren drivers unable to prevent Ferrari no.2 Rubens Barrichello from taking victory at Suzuka - the race which decided the World Championship. Michael Schumacher was out of form all weekend and ended the race in 8th place after losing a front wing early on in the race. Falling 2 points short of a win - all the more disappointing following the engine failure at the Nurburgring which cost Kimi certain victory and being shunted out at the first corner of the German GP. Schumacher's car once again, did not fail and that was the difference at year's end.
