Kimi Raikkonen finished a credible second in the 2003 World Championship. Despite a win and 7 second place finishes, the season ended disappointingly with both McLaren drivers unable to prevent Ferrari no.2 Rubens Barrichello from taking victory at Suzuka - the race which decided the World Championship. Michael Schumacher was out of form all weekend and ended the race in 8th place after losing a front wing early on in the race. Falling 2 points short of a win - all the more disappointing following the engine failure at the Nurburgring which cost Kimi certain victory and being shunted out at the first corner of the German GP.
