* All of these recessive two gene colors require a double dose of BOTH colors for the hamster to be one of these colors. This means a baby hamster must have the same two color genes from BOTH parents. If he or she gets it from only one parent, the baby will carry the color but not show it. For instance, if a baby hamster has a blue mother and opal father. The baby will be opal since blue is opal and black combined. The baby will then carry black from mom.
