*All of these recessive three gene colors require a double dose of all three color genes for the hamster to be one of these colors. This means a baby hamster must have the same three color genes from BOTH parents. If he or she gets it from only one parent only, the baby will carry the color but not show it. For instance, if a baby hamster has a red eyed lilac father and blue fawn mother (who does not carry black) all the babies will be blue fawn. This color is made up of opal and red eyed argente. Since the babies did not get a double dose of black, they will carry it but cannot be red eyed lilac (since they only got tone black dose from dad).
