| December 1, 2005
Welcome to December�we can officially call this the Holiday Season! December 2, 2005 After work and school and then gymnastics, Dan, Coral, Jordan, and Ian were met by Marie and Dwain for their visit to Florida and the Copperfield Cottage. Marie joined Amy for Coral�s turn at gymnastics while Dwain stayed with Dan, Ian and Jordan. Later, we ordered pizza and caught up with the big news that they are expecting a baby boy�the first nephew for Dan and Amy! December 3, 2005 Everybody loves a parade�we all left the house kind of early to get a breakfast meal at McDonalds and catch the Merritt Island parade. It looked like every else had that same idea because it took about 20 minutes to get our food, but made it just in time to eat and get our spot for the parade to start. After the parade, we relaxed a few hours and went our separate ways again. Dwain and Dan went on the gambling boat and found no luck and Marie, Amy, Jordan, Ian, and Coral went to Roadhouse Grill and Wal-mart and spent what ever money the guys didn�t lose on the boat. December 4, 2005 Amy, Jordan, and Coral finally made it back to church and CCD�Amy promised to volunteer in Jordan's class and bring snacks for both classes. They made it back in time to watch the Steelers lose a very important game to the Bengals...we may have all watched the last meaningful game of the Steelers' season. After the game, Amy and Marie went to Publix while Coral went to Lauren�s house, Ian and Jordan played around the house, and Dan and Dwain wallowed in their sorrow. The mood during the evening was brought back up with a good BBQ grilled chicken meal and the early exchange of Christmas presents. December 5, 2005 After work and school, we all came home to a kitchen full of the aroma of a home-cooked meal. Marie cooked a roast and all the fixin's along with a chocolate-cream pie for everyone�woo hoo! December 6, 2005 Another evening of home-cooking from Chef Marie helped the war tournament move faster. Later, we watched �Scrooged� to help get in the Christmas spirit on the last night with the Gahagens. December 7, 2005 Happy 36th Birthday to Amy!!! After work and school, we celebrated Amy�s birthday and had dinner at the Olive Garden. December 8, 2005 Not much going on other than an oil change for the Caravan at 50,000 miles. December 9, 2005 Dan started off the day by buying his Christmas/Birthday present for himself�an airline ticket to Vegas Baby! Dan�s office had an afternoon get-together and celebrated the holidays with food and drinks at KARS Park. Later, another weekend started with a trip (or two) to gymnastics followed by Amy falling asleep on the couch�ahhh, the fun just doesn�t stop here in Florida! December 10, 2005 Once everyone was up and moving, we dressed in our Christmas-red for our annual trip to visit with Santa Claus at the busy mall�the kids relayed all the pertinent information and the family picture ended up very nice. We then went to the Shaffers' for a visit and dinner with our friends. Ding-dong the witch is dead�Dan finally killed off the evil spirits that have been causing him to lose every time he placed a bet lately with a big win at his regular poker game. December 11, 2005 Coral and Jordan went to CCD and Amy volunteered this week in Coral�s class to make it fair. Speaking of killing off evil spirits, the Steelers put an end to their 3-game skid by beating the Bears�to quote Peter King of SI, �Football in the snow is utterly fantastic� and this is true especially on TV, but not so much in person. Amy did some food shopping, Dan did some food cooking, and then both Dan and Amy did some hair cutting (Dan did Ian�s hair and Amy did Dan�s hair). We closed the weekend off with the season finale of �Survivor: Guatemala�. December 12, 2005 We took in some way-ward catapillars today�three to be exact. Coral adopted three Monarch catapillars from her friend Marisa and their names are CJ�Curly Jr. (named by Coral), Lisa (named by Jordan), and Coolio (named by Ian). December 13, 2005 After Amy got home from work, she turned right around and tried to finalize the Christmas shopping for this year...not to worry Dan had control of the home-front. December 14, 2005 Not much going on here, just getting prepared for the season. December 15, 2005 At work, Dan and the rest of his co-workers took an interesting tour of KSC to see all the work the branch does at the Center. At school, Ian got a visit from Ol' Saint Nick and Jordan and Coral both got their report cards for the second quarter and both got some great NEWS! Later in the evening while Amy, Coral, Jordan, and Ian worked on the goodies for the feasts of the next day, Dan was off trying to keep the poker streak alive, but missed by one player. December 16, 2005 After school, Jordan and Coral had a karaoke party with singing and cheer for the holiday season and to celebrate the end of another semester of school. Dan later picked them and Ian up for gymnastics. Amy had a girls-night-out at Carol's house for chick-flick night where they ate, drank and watched Christmas movies 'til the wee hours of the night. December 17, 2005 Happy 37th Birthday to Dan!!! We spent most of the day indoors on this chilly and overcast day, but during the evening hours, Dan and Amy went out for an adult dinner to celebrate birthdays together. December 18, 2005 Happy Birthday to Uncle Cyr and to Heather!!! Coral and Jordan did their part by going to CCD, but we are not exactly on God's good side during this Advent Season otherwise. The Steelers had another good showing against the Vikings and with help from others almost control their own destiny. Later, the entire family went to Red Lobster to celebrate Dan's Birthday and to reek havoc on the lobster tank. December 19, 2005 With the kids out of school for this week and next, they spent the day at all-day care. After dinner, Amy tried to finalize the Christmas shopping yet again. December 20, 2005 Reason #528 why living in Florida Rocks: Bowls games at your fingertips�yes, you guessed it, Dan snagged tickets to the Orange Bowl and will be driving down to watch Penn State beat up on the home team of Florida State�woo hoo! Later, Amy finally finalized the buying process and Dan and Amy started the next phase�wrapping, while they watched �It�s a Wonderful Life�. December 21, 2005 The wrapping concluded this evening as we watched �A Christmas Story��now we are ready for Santa to come for his visit. December 22, 2005 Coral and Jordan honored their last day at GEMS for all-day care, but are excited to go to Destiny for all-day care because the older kids are going to the movies. Amy had her Christmas luncheon with her work folks today. Dan had another disappointing poker turn-out with no luck on his side, but not to fear he always has tomorrow to turn that bad luck to good luck. December 23, 2005 Jordan and Coral were both excited to join Ian at his day-care because it was movie day and they got to see �The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe�. After an easy day of work and day-care, we went to Long John Silver�s for dinner to get ready for the short Christmas break. Later, Dan put together a nice run of luck at his regular poker game. December 24, 2005 The morning was filled with anxiousness with the kids driving Dan and Amy crazy, but the afternoon was filled with a huge Steeler win over the hated Brownies, 41-0! The evening helped us concentrate on Christmas by going to church as a family and we all remembered the reason we celebrate the season. We then performed our usual ritual of looking at the neighborhood lights, picking up and eating our pizza, watching �Santa Claus is Coming to Town�, and then reading ��Twas the Night Before Christmas��the rest of the night was left to the professional, Santa Claus! December 25, 2005 Merry Christmas to All!!! We woke at about 7 AM and found that Santa had been nice to all of the Florida Remberts. We spent the rest of the day playing/watching the gifts. The big gift this year was an addition to the family�a little baby hamster. Her name is Caramel Electra because she is light tan in color. December 26, 2005 Once we all got up on our day-off and got moving, we went to spend the day at the Shaffer�s. After our visit, we went to Steak �n- Shake for a not-so-pleasant dinner where they missed several times on our order, but at least the kids were good. December 27, 2005 Happy Birthday to Uncle Whitey!!! Another day at Ian�s day-care for Jordan and Coral and another day where they visited the movie theather�this time they saw �Cheaper by the Dozen 2�. KSC was still open for work, but barely�Dan and Amy both were in the minority by attending work, but with no traffic. December 28, 2005 Another quiet day at work followed by another raucous night at home. December 29, 2005 At lunchtime, we were visited by some old friends: CJ, Lisa, and Coolio, but this time they were butterflies! The cocoons hatched and the three of them were able to spread their wings today. The Rembert Zoo is growing by leaps and bounds. December 30, 2005 We spent our day-off in the drive way for most of the day cleaning out the vehicles and rid them of all the dust to start the new year off in clean cars. December 31, 2005 Happy New Year�s Eve!!! We visited Shannah and David at their camp site at KARS Park in the afternoon. We then went back to the house, waited for the babysitters to arrive, Amy�s Dad and Mom, and then partied like it was 1999 only 6 years later. We started the evening off at Dan�s poker buddy, Kevin�s house and then rambled back over to Shannah and David�s campsite to ring in the new year on the river. |
