| October 1, 2003 Happy New Fiscial Year and Promotion Day for Dan!!! Today is the day that Dan takes his first step in the promotional area...he is now a Senior Air Quality Specialist! This is not only a promotion on paper, it includes a raise, which he is earning in North Carolina! After the big meetings with the EPA, we were all invited to the rule-writer's house for drinks and dinner. This, obviously, is a big deal and not offered to much of industry...the EPA must be trying to "get-in" good with the DoD and NASA. October 2, 2003 After half-a-day's meeting, Dan got back on the plane and headed home to find out some BIG NEWS! It finally happened, we sold the house in Pittsburgh today! October 3, 2003 With Dan back from his trip, it was back to the grind, but only for one day...woo hoo! October 4, 2003 Coral skipped gymnastics today because she had another birthday party to attend. While they were gone, Dan and the kids (mostly Dan) got the house ready to present to a brand-new, first-time visitor to the Bolton Bed and Breakfast, Uncle Whitey. Amy also helped clean-up after she got home. In the evening, the visitors arrived around 8:30 so Ian had to wait to meet his Great-Aunt Lainey and Great-Uncle Whitey, who were joined by Gram and Pap Rembert. October 5, 2003 Dan and Coral went to church and the ever-popular CCD/Publix combo in the morning. After that formality was done, we had a swimming/football party all day with the visitors, which ended on the bad note of the Steelers pityful loss to the hated Browns...Boo! October 6, 2003 Back to the grind, which included depositing the closing check and moving his office to a window seat for Dan, which he hasn't had since '98...not bad for a Monday. October 7, 2003 Dan completely finished moving to his new office at work, but other than that it was a typical Tuesday...Amy goes to school, Dan hangs with the kids. October 8, 2003 Happy Birthday to Pap!!! After work, daycare, and school and not to mention the visitors losing all their money on the gambling boat, Pap, Gramma, Aunt Lainey and Uncle Whitey joined us to celebrated Pap and Gramma's birthdays with some steak and cake. October 9, 2003 Happy Birthday to Gramma!!! Both Ian and Coral had follow-up doctor appointments, so Dan went in early and left early to take them...all is good. Ian infections are gone and Coral's hearing is fine. October 10, 2003 After work, Dan met up with the Pittsburgh Remberts and the Baden Rusts at Grills for some happy hour activities and dining. After that, we met up with the rest of the Florida Remberts at the hotel for a walk on the beach with the kids to start off the long weekend. October 11, 2003 While Amy, Coral, and Jordan were at gymnastics, Judy, Gene, Lainey, and Whitey brought their sleep-over gear for their last day in Florida to enjoy the accommodations at the Bolton Bed and Breakfast. Once everyone was home, we spent the day poolside drinking and soaking up the sun (some for the last time in Florida for a while). At night after the kids were in bed, we watched "The In-Laws". It was hilarious! Amy gives it 2 "long winks". October 12, 2003 The guests left too early to get breakfast at the Bolton Bed and Breakfast (that's not going to look good on the follow-up rating-card), so after Church & CCD/Publix for Amy and Coral, we caught up with our chores. The Steeler game was on national TV so Dan didn't even have to leave home to get disappointed this week from another loss. October 13, 2003 Happy Columbus Day!!! Because Amy and Dan work at a governmental center, we get these kind of days off from work, which is great...so we spent the entire day at Sea World and the kids were great. October 14, 2003 It was back to the grind today. Amy had another test and got another 100%! October 15, 2003 Today was Super Safety and Health Day at work which means KSC workers must "stand down" (aka, don't do any work today). Not only was it a perfect day weather-wise, but Dan and Amy got to spend the day at work hanging out together watching safety and health presentations and visiting with vendors. We also had our hearing against the delinquent who rented our house for us and has our money...we will get a verdict from the Magistrate in a few days. October 16, 2003 It was a big day for Zoey...she got her teeth cleaned and a few moles removed and for that to happen, she had to be put to sleep. Her teeth are looking good and none had to be removed unlike the moles. Dan was in charge of getting her there and picking her up in the Jeep. October 17, 2003 After work and daycare were done for the week, we stopped and got some food for the kids at Wendy's and enjoyed a calm Friday evening at home. After the kids were in bed, Amy studied and Dan watched "The Matrix Reloaded", which was just as good as the first. October 18, 2003 After Amy, Coral, and Jordan got back from gymnastics and some Halloween costume shopping, Shannah came over for a quick visit and swim. Once the kids were in bed for a nap and Shannah had left, Coral watched a movie, Amy did some more homework, and Dan washed the cars. October 19, 2003 Dan and Coral went to Church and then Coral went to CCD, but no shopping was needed this week. After CCD, Dan, Coral, and Jordan (who went with Dan to get Coral in the Jeep), went to a video store's going-out-of-business sale and got some videos for $2. Later, Ian and Dan got their ears lowered and we all watched some of the "new" videos. October 20, 2003 Today is Coral's last day of break, it's back to school tomorrow, so she will be enjoying the relaxation of today. For the rest of us, it was back to the grind. October 21, 2003 Coral started back to school today and she was excited to see her teacher and friends again. Speaking of school, Jordan and Ian got their school pictures back today also and they look great (they should be on the site soon)...sometimes you don't realize how cute they are until they take your breath away the first time you see them on film. October 22, 2003 Today is Brownie day for Coral, so the schedule does all kinds of weird things to get her there and Jordan and Ian back from school/daycare, but we did it! Later, Dan and Amy watched one of the new-old movies that we got on Sunday, "Beautiful Girls". We both were very pleasantly surprised by this movie and Amy gives it 1 1/2 "long winks". Make sure to check out more "Dan's Top Ten Lists" added today and go to the Forum area to tell him what you think (you will also find some more news there that may be of interest to you all, so make sure to go there too). October 23, 2003 Not much going on today, just some routine maintanance on the Caravan and gorgeous weather, so not as many links as yesterday...make sure to check out all the links from yesterday! October 24, 2003 Ian woke up in the middle of the night with some strange 24-hour bug thing, so Amy stayed home with him, but he was fine the whole day. Dan met Amy and Ian at Coral's school so Amy could go in for a couple hours to work...it was a frantic Friday. October 25, 2003 Amy and Jordan took Coral to gymnastics and then to Publix for some food shopping (this taks seems to be switched from Sundays). Once they were back and Ian and Jordan were off to nap-land, Amy got her hair done. Once she was back from that, we packed up and went to the Our Savior's Fair and rode until 10:30! October 26, 2003 The day started off with Coral and Amy going to Church and CCD/Wal-Mart. Then Dan went to watch the struggling Steelers get another loss...2-5 now. To get our minds off the sting of the game, the rest of the evening was movie night. First we watched "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets", which was good for Halloween time. Then after the kids were in bed, Amy and Dan watched "The Italian Job". This movie was interrupted by Jordan getting the strange 24-hour bug thing that Ian had on Friday, but after the cleanup was done and we finished the movie, we both agreed it was a pretty good movie. Amy gives both movies 2 1/2 "long winks". October 27, 2003 Well the same thing happened to Coral at about 6 AM that happened to Ian on Friday and Jordan last night...the dreaded strange 24-hour bug thing. So Dan stayed home with Coral and Jordan to make sure they were ok...and they were. This gave Dan a chance to do some calling around about the big surprise in store for Amy (don't worry, she never reads this thing). October 28, 2003 Back to school for Coral and Jordan who are feeling better. Speaking of school, Amy got another "A" on her test today. After she got home and tubies were done, we all sat down to watch a classic..."It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" on TV. October 29, 2003 Today for Coral's Brownies' meeting they took a special trip to Courtney Springs Village Home, a nursing home. The people there were so happy to see the kids in their costumes! After the girls did a little routine in the rec-room, they went around for a little one-on-one time with a few bedridden folks. The girl's time was truely appreciated. After tubbies and bedtime for the kids, Dan and Amy tried to watch the movie "Hulk". It was a huge disappointment for both of us! Amy didn't fall asleep, but she did get a lot accomplished during the showing...4 "long winks". October 30, 2003 Amy had an early afternoon dentist appointment, but after that the fun got started (not that getting fillings at the dentist ain't fun). She picked up all the kids (ours only), got them dressed up in their costumes (Coral - tiger/leopard/some kind of cat, Jordan - princess, and Ian - Army guy...he refused to wear his cowboy oufit), and met Dan at the Pumpkin Patch Bash at Gardendale. They ate and played games until it was time to go home and then they cried like the Dickens...Coral stayed with Amy, who volunteered to help with games, so she didn't cry. Ahhh, the holiday season is upon us...the time for fun, games and lots of tears. October 31, 2003 Happy Halloween!!! Dan started the day off with a scary site...the dentist! But don't worry, everything was just fine. After the day's normal activities, we got home, ate, and then it was time to trick or treat. We hit about 15 or 20 houses before it was time to throw in the towel and start handing out our own candy to the kids. It was fun, but a few times Ian got scared of the masks. |
