After work, Amy had a small mole removedit was a short and relatively painless procedure and nothing to be concerned about.  Amy then met the rest of the Florida Remberts at Super Cuts for a haircut marathon where she was the only one that didnt get her hair cut and everyone else had a turn in the seat.  Jordans hair is the most substantial and she now has a cute little do.

After work, Amy was in charge of the kids because Dan had a little going away party for Frank from the office.  Frank accepted a position in the NASA facilities engineering grouphe is moving from working under John to working under Krista, that right there is improvement enough.

Ya gotta come see the ba-by!
After school and a short stint at work, we made our way to the airport for the Florida Remberts make their first trip on an airplane!  We were going back to Pittsburgh to stay the weekend with the Gahagens and visit with Brendan to welcome him into the family.  The plane trip was exciting for the kidsCoral and Jordan have not been on a plane since 2001 and this was Ians first time ever.  Judy, Marie, and baby Brendan met us at the airport, and once we got our rental van, we got our first peek at Marie and Dwains new-to-them house.  We took up the entire upstairs portion of their house and it was plenty of room for us and our stuff.  The weekend was pretty much dedicated to getting acquainted with the newest member of the family, but we did make some trips away Scott Township to meet and greet.  Friday was set aside for side trips to see Amys grandmothers place at the Grand Residences at Upper St. Clair, the afternoon at Grandma and Pap Remberts house, and to have some fun at Chuck E. Cheeses with Lor and the cousins.  Saturday was work day to get the final logistics of the party completed, but included one of Amys favorite memoriesafter the work was done we sat around the fire and cooked smores, while Dan, Gene, Dwain, and Dwains brother, Chris played cards.  Sunday was baptism day and the party that ensued.  The baptism went well with Brendan pretty much sleeping and everyone else sweating through the entire thing.  The party went great and lasted most of the day.  Most everyone showed up to for the party and it was great to see all the people that did make the effort.  The kids got to run around with all the other kids and what seemed like thousands of their cousins.  Amy and Dan got to catch-up with friends and family that they havent seen in years.  Monday we jumped back on the plane and traveled through Philadelphia to get back home, which was a welcome sight.  Once at home, it was time to try to get life back to normal.

Now that our mini-vacation is over, we are thrown into the fire of soccer season.  After work and school, we rushed home to eat and get ready for Ians first soccer practice, which was held close by at Gardendale, so that was nice.

August 9, 2006
Ians official first day of school was today, along with the rest of the county.  He has to wear a uniform, which is a tee-shirt with the Alpha Academy logo on it and khaki shorts or pants.  As for the rest of the county, this made things much more crowded on the roads.  After school, Ian had his second practice and the team doesnt look too bad.

August 10, 2006
We all got a day off from activities for the evening, so we had some family time and rested up for a busy activities day tomorrow.

August 11, 2006
Jordan and Amy went on an all-day field trip to Orlando Science Center.  They had a great time and Jordan once again was filled with stories, but they got back too late to tell them all.  Today was also Ians first day of gymnastics with Coach Fred and Corals first day of soccer practice.  Dan had to drive from one place to the other place to pick up and drop off across Merritt Island.

August 12, 2006
We continued what seems to be a trendgetting the yard work done every other Saturday before the heat kicks in.  Once we were cleaned up from our morning chores, the kids got more pictures taken because we werent completely satisfied with the ones of all three kids together.  After the photo shoot, we made a trip to the library for some more knowledge gathering.  Later in the afternoon, the kids took a swim, while Dan watched the first pre-season Steelers gameboy, its nice to see the Steelers again and especially Big Ben only two months after his accident.

August 13, 2006
We missed another week of church, but CCD will be starting soon enough to get us on track.  After lunch, we were just about ready to go swimming when the lightning and thunder rolled in, so we stayed in and watched movies the rest of the day.

August 14, 2006
We got back to the grind today and Coral had soccer practicelooks like the entries will go this way over the next few months.

August 15, 2006
We finally found out about Jordan's Pop Warner cheerleading team today and she had her first practice.  The poor kid once again got the short end of the stick, but we corrected their errors and got her to practice after missing only a few.  She really enjoyed it and was the loudest, but now it is officialwe are once again in the busy period with soccer and cheerleading for the kids.

August 16, 2006
After school and work, Amy took the kids to do some cheerleader shopping and out for GEMS night at Beef OBradys.

August 17, 2006
Lucky for us, Ians soccer practice was cancelled and we only had Corals soccer and Jordans cheerleading practices.  Man, Thursdays are going to be fun!

August 18, 2006
Dan took the early gymnastics shift to go play cards and Amy took the late shift.  We got this down to a science now.

August 19, 2006
Jordan and the rest of the Merritt Island cheerleading squads and Pop Warner football players had their pictures this morning, which ended up to be 2 hours of "hurry up and wait"but not to worry, Jordan was a trooper.  Next up on the agenda was a trip to Gardendale for Coral's soccer game.  Although it was not too sunny, it sure was hot and sticky, but her team played well.  After the game, we returned back home and Amy went to get our family portraits.  These turned out excellent and we can't wait to display them on our walls!  Later, we took a trip to Merritt Square Mall for a few small things for the kids.

August 20, 2006
Once again we returned to church and Sunday brunch.  We then made a trip to BJ's for some big ticket items for the month (we are trying to take advantage of our membership).  Amy had to make a quick trip to Publix for the food not purchased at BJ's.  We concluded the day with a family swim, chicken on the grill, and Steelers pre-season football thanks to the NFL Network.

August 21, 2006
Other than one of the Jeep tires going flat due to a huge screw in the road, but then getting fixed and Corals soccer practice, it was a typical get-back-to-work Monday, but in the future Corals Monday practice will become part of this being typical.

August 22, 2006
The stormy weather missed us again so Amy could take Jordan to cheerleading practice.

August 23, 2006
The stormy weather didnt miss us this time and caused Ians soccer practice to get cancelled.

August 24, 2006
Another night of wet weather caused Ians, Jordans, and Corals practices all to get cancelledmaybe the coaches should schedule the times for the middle of the day when the sun is out, but that would bring on a new set of problems.

August 25, 2006
Today was Marys birthday, so after work Amy went with her and some other friends to dinner at Carrabbas while Dan took the kids to gymnastics.

August 26, 2006
The day started way too early for us.  We had to be at the field for soccer team pictures at 7:30 AM for both Ians and Corals teams.  Then they were both supposed to have games at the same field at 8:30, but Corals got pushed back because of a scheduling conflict.  This worked out pretty good because we were all able to watch both games.  Ians first game of his career was pretty good.  He seemed to like it and had a ton of fun.  He also scored 4 goalsthree in front and one in the back of the goal after the ball passed the end line, but we will count that since Ian got so excited about it.  Corals game was also good.  The team won 2-1 and Coral played well.  She plays mainly defense so we dont have as attractive an account of her game.  After the games, Dan got right to work in the yard and Jordan had to make some money for her cheerleading team.  The girls had to stand in front of Publix with their uniforms on and ask for donations from the patrons while wearing their most adorable expression.  Jordan was very good at this task and enjoyed the afternoon and Amy got some shopping done toward the end of their shift.  Later in the afternoon, it was time to put the finishing touches on our long day.  Jordans cheerleading squad had to cheer at a Pop Warner jamboree at Port St. Johnsthis is where many local team gather at one field and have a bunch of scrimmages against each other to prepare for the season.  We packed up and went to dinner at Dogs R- Us, a local diner where kids eat freeAmy and Dan were excited about that.  The dinner was a good time, but the weather outside the window was not good.  By the time we showed up at the field, the weather did not improve and in the continuing saga of Jordan getting the short end of the stick, her football games that she was supposed to cheer for were cancelled due to the weather.  Since there were no players, there was no need for all the cheering.  All they had to do was check-in and then they were excused.  We then went home and we were too beat to do anything but rest.

August 27, 2006
The carry-over from the long day yesterday was too much and we didnt make it to church.  We did go on a short visit to see Shannah, David, and baby GunnarAmy sure does look good holding other peoples babies.  After that, we got home just in time for our visitors, the Shaffers.  We had an enjoyable afternoon lounging by the pool, drinking in the libations, and cooking out.

August 28, 2006
Our first hurricane of season, Ernesto, is comingit may turn into the second tropical storm of the season, but is on track to go right over us.  Amy took Coral to her soccer practice and then took Ian and Jordan shopping while Dan held his annual fantasy football draft.  This years draft was quite a trip with downed servers and conference calls.

August 29, 2006
We waited for TS Ernesto to show us which direction he will be headed, but it looks like it is right toward us.  Parent conferences we cancelled due to preparations for the storm, but Jordans practice carried on as normal.  After practice, we brought all our patio stuff in from outside so they dont turn into projectiles.

August 30, 2006
School was cancelled and KSC was closed, but Ernesto weakened to a Tropical Depression and we didnt get much of anything except rain and a day off to relax and watch movies.

August 31, 2006
More rain came this afternoon making Ians practice field unplayable.  For some reason, Corals practice, which is at a later time and on a different field, took place.  Corals team needs more practice than Ians team anyways.
