Happy 10th Birthday to Coral!!!
We just cant believe it has been one decade since Coral was prematurely born on the day before Labor Day 1996.  Now back to the present, Amy went into work early to have the fun of getting the kids and taking them to gymnastics.  After gymnastics, we went to Roadhouse Grill (Corals choice) for Corals birthday dinner and then opened presents back at home.

September 2, 2006
We woke up and headed to the football field for our chance to see Jordan cheer for the first time and she was unbelievable!  She knew all the cheers and had a great timeit was really a fun thing to see and watching football was fun too.  After we got back, it was time to get to work around the house.  Once the work was completed, Amy got a pedicure, picked up the babysitter, and grabbed dinner for the kids because it was date night for Dan and Amy.  We met John and Krista at Carrabbas for a very enjoyable evening out with our friends.

September 3, 2006
We missed church once again, but next week CCD starts, so it should become habit soon.  We did a few things around the house, but mainly just hung out all day.

Happy Labor Day!!!
We had a very enjoyable family, Labor day around the pool.  A few of the kids from the neighborhood stopped by in the morning and Coral worked on her science project in the afternoon, but other than that, we all spent the day swimming and relaxing by the pool.

September 5, 2006
After work and school, we had parent/teacher conferences with Jordan and Corals teachers.  Both of them are doing well with some minor troubles to correct.  Jordan is a little behind the learning curve mainly because of the change in teachers earlier in the year, but she is catching up nicely and Coral is still adjusting to the Performing Arts magnet, but it should help her get out of her shell.  We also learned that Coral will be joining the show choir because of her commitment to practice when she was an alternatemaybe she will make it out of her shell.  After the long talks with the teachers, Ian had soccer practice and Jordan had cheerleading practice.

September 6, 2006
While Amy got the kids and stopped by the library to get some more books and a DVD, Dan prepared early for Corals party this Saturday by cutting the grass after work.  The next step in preparations is to get the house cleaned.

September 7, 2006
Corals class had a field trip to Indian River Lagoon at Kelly Park and looked at all the wild life in and out of the water.  We finally supposed to have all three practice sessions for all three kids this evening, but a terrible thunderstorm (worse than TD Ernesto from just a week ago) caused the practices to get cancelled.  Later, the rain slowed down so we could watch the Steelers and the Dolphins as they kicked off the NFL season with a good with for the good guys 28-17.

September 8, 2006
Corals class had another field trip to the BCC Planetarium and Dan joined the class as a chaperone and they learned all about the Sun.  The rest of the evening we had gymnastics and some errands for both Dan and Amy for Corals party.

September 9, 2006
We had another busy SaturdayDan and Jordan had to make an hour trip to the Orlando area for cheerleading, while Amy and Ian watched Corals team play locally.  Because of all the activities, we missed one of our favorite things to dowatch the launch, but it went up without a hitch.  After the games were over, Corals party began.  She had a swimming party with a few of her friends and luckily the weather cooperated.  The kids all had fun and so did the adults.  The party continued with a sleep-over with Lauren while Dan and Amy recuperated.  In other newswhile Dan and Jordan were in Orlando and Amy, Coral, and Ian were running around for Corals party, STS-115 lifted off from KSC for the first non-return-to-flight mission and continued the Space Station missions.

September 10, 2006
And now for the Sunday actionchurch, CCD, parent's meeting for CCD, and a quick trip to Publix and all before noon.  Then it was time for the football games to start, so everyone knew where to find Dan the rest of opening day for the NFL.  Amy took the kids to one of Coral's friends, Emily's birthday party...they weren't so lucky with the rain and didn't get to do any swimming.

September 11, 2006
Five years later on this Patriot Day, we will never forget
There was no rain in the forecast for the day, so it was nice to have practice without interruptionunfortunately Coral was the only one with practice.

September 12, 2006
Look at yesterdays entry and then substitute Jordan for Coral and you got todays entry.

September 13, 2006
Now take yesterdays entry and then substitute Ian for Jordan and you got todays entryboy, when you look at our life in black-and-white, it is pretty monotonous.

September 14, 2006
Normally we reserve this space for only positive thoughts, but we got some sad news todayJordan will not be able to do cheerleading any more because the Mid-Florida chapter of Pop Warner declared that the team did not have the correct amount of coaches to support a combined team like the one that Jordan is on and needed another head coach.  Amy offered to be a head coach, but she does not have the proper training.  Needless to say, Jordan was upset and once again got the short end of the stick, but she will persevere as usual.

September 15, 2006
Jordan had a little stomach thing to deal with also so Dan and Amy split the sick time to be with her.  This left only Coral and Ian for gymnastics for this week.

September 16, 2006
We needed to keep Jordan close to the bathroom, so Amy went with Ian to his soccer game in the morning and Dan went with Coral to her soccer game in the evening.  In between soccer games, we all went to Active Imagination for Erin and Jessies combined birthday party.  The kids had fun at this place to dress-up and act like your favorite character.  Later, Amy went out with Genese for a quiet dinner and conversationyou know, girly stuff.

September 17, 2006
Jordan was feeling well enough to go to church and CCD, so we were all able to make it for the second week in a row.  The only other action for the day was Corals friend from school had a birthday party that Coral attended.

September 18, 2006
The tedium of getting back to work and school was offset by the excitement of Monday Night Football for the Steelerstoo bad the excitement didnt last through the night when they lost to the Jags 9-0.  Coral also had soccer practice to help with the unrest.

September 19, 2006
We got some rain on the day with no activities, so that was good newsother than that not much going on with us.

September 20, 2006
While Dan was wrapping up his weeks work, Amy took Coral and Jordan to Ians soccer practice followed by GEMS night at Beef OBradys with the Launays.

September 21, 2006
Dan was up in time to encounter the orbiter landing at KSC at about quarter after 6 in the morning.  He went into work early to be able to watch Coral's class performance.  Amy went in to GEMS early and helped set up for the song and dance about the planets and other celestial objectsand yes, that included Pluto.  After the 9:30 performance, Jordan and her class caught the 10:15 show while Dan and Amy returned to work.  Later, due to sicknesses in the Shaffer house, Dan picked up Erin who attends Alpha Academy with Ian and brought her home with the Rembert kids so that the overwhelmed John could take care of the other three sick children.  After dinner, Coral had soccer practice and Erin was returned to her rightful owners and all restored to near normality.

September 22, 2006
Coral and Jordan enjoyed "Field Day" at school.  This tradition started last year as the GEMS kidson the last day of classes before they closed out the quarter and headed into the break.  Amy and Dan switched rolesDan got the kids to school and Amy picked them up and got them to gymnastics.  After gymnastics, Amy took Coral to get her shopping done for her science project, which has to be completed during the break.

September 23, 2006
Coral was Lauren's guest for a day at Cypress Gardens for her birthday.  Lauren's sister Kylie took a friend for her birthday also and they spent the day riding rides and playing games.  While Coral was away for the ENTIRE day, Dan, Amy, and Jordan went to Ian's soccer game, Dan and Amy then did some work around the yard, and then we took the top down on the Jeep (completely open) and headed to Ron Jon's for some swimming at the pool, running and digging at the beach, and climbing in the playroom.  A great time was had by all on this absolutely perfect day.

September 24, 2006
We did our usual Sunday thing with church, CCD, and Publix coupled with Dan's sitting in front of the TV watching football, but the Steelers threw one away to the Bengals, 28-20.  Amy also took the kids and completed the shopping needed for Coral's science project.  The weekend was topped off with a good ol' fashioned roast beef dinner.

September 25, 2006
We took the Caravan to get the 60,000 mile oil changed, so for a rarity Dan and Amy traveled into work together and dropped Ian off at school. For Jordan and Coral, their first day of fall break was also their first day of campJordan spent the entire day with the aftercare kids, but Coral joined them after her morning GEMS Showstoppers camp concluded.

September 26, 2006
No activities and a good bit of rain, thats a good combination.

September 27, 2006
Ian had soccer practice and Coral worked on her science project, which starts next week.

September 28, 2006
As the nice weather with cooler 80 degree temperatures (we remember a time when temperature was considered hot) arrived, so did the return to an open Jeep.  The Showstoppers had a dress rehearsal for the kids in the aftercare camp and Jordan proclaimed the show to be a success!  Coral also had soccer practice later in the evening.

September 29, 2006
Jordan and the rest of the daycare camp went bowling and Jordan even got a couple of strikes and a spare.  Coral and the Showstoppers had a couple of shows for two rehab centers in the area.  Dan and Amy attended the one in the morning at Merritt Island.  Later, the kids all had gymnastics to round off the Friday adventures.

September 30, 2006
We once again started of the day with an early soccer game for Ian.  Once that was done, we got right to workDan washed the cars (with a little help from the kids) and Amy did some yard work.  In the evening, we went to the Durhams for some pizza and a movie, The Wild.
