The day started off early with yard workAmy weeded and Dan mowed.  Once we finished our chores, it was time to get library cards for everyone in the family.  The librarians seemed very pleased about seeing the entire family signed up, but that had something to do with meeting a quota.  Once we had our cards, books, and DVDs in hand (yes, they lend DVDs now), we were off to the photographer to pick out our family portraits.  This was a very tough task because all the pictures turned out greateven the not-so-good ones looked very nice.  It took about an hour to weed through and select the ones we wanted for our walls, but we got out just in time to find out that the launch was just scrubbed.  The rest of the day we relaxed and read our books and watched our movies.  Dan and Amy picked two moviesnot sure what all the fuss about Napoleon Dynamite was because there werent too many times we found ourselves laughing out loud, but The Girl Next Door was good.  The only thing about that was it should have been called Risky Business, Part II.  Amy gives them 4 long winks and 1 1/2 long winks, respectively.

July 2, 2006
Once again, we slept in too long to catch mass even with the summer schedule to help us.  Maybe it was because it was a rainy day that made it difficult to get motivated to get to church on time, but church wasnt the only thing we skipped.  No one left the house until about 2 PM when Amy and Ian went shopping for a gift for a party later that afternoon for 2 friends from school.  After the party, Amy cut Ians hair and then Dans hair before bedtime.

July 3, 2006
It was nice to have a Monday disquised as a Fridaywe went to work and daycare for one day and got back into the weekend mode.

July 4, 2006
Happy Independence Day and Happy Birthday to John!!!
We spent the day by the pool and even got a special firework display in the form of the STS-121 Shuttle Launch.  In the evening, we made our way to Cocoa Village for the rest of the fireworks.  At the park, we enjoyed some pre-demonstration snacks, play-time, and the fireworks, but the wind pushed some cinders and debris a little too close and singed some skin and clothes in the crowd and we were no exception.  Once we got home, we took a look at the damage and Dans seat and Corals eyelid took the worst of it, but it was nothing that a little saline solution couldnt fix.

July 5, 2006
To play it safe, we all took the day off to keep an eye on Corals eyelid, which had a slight laceration and was generally recovered by mid-day.  This allowed us to visit Ians new school, Alpha Academy, and to fit some swimming in before dinner.

July 6, 2006
We werent happy to get back to work or daycare, but it had to be done.

July 7, 2006
Other than a few falls and scrapes, ice-skating for Coral and Jordan at all-daycare was fun in the summer (wonder what their cooling bill is like).  There was no gymnastics this week because the facility was closed for summer vacation, but we didnt find this out until we arrived for our weekly ritualwe must not have been paying attention last week.

July 8, 2006
Once our plans fell through of having a few friends over to do some swimming, we went directly to Plan B.  Coral went with Lauren to the movies to see Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest and Dan, Amy, Jordan, and Ian went to the Avenue Viera for a lunch date and to do some shopping.  After we all got back, we jumped in the pool to cool off from our afternoon trips.

July 9, 2006
Once again our best laid plans were put to rest and we missed another week of churchthe sound you hear is our souls crying out to be saved.  The good news of the day was that the weather cooperated for our visit with the Shaffers and Lauren for some grilling and swimming.

July 10, 2006
Coral and Jordan started their last week of summer break todaythey are both ready to get back to school.  Ian is also excited to start at his new school, but has another full week at Destiny.

July 11, 2006
Shannah and David delivered some great NEWS todaytheir new baby boy, Gunnar!
Water-play day for Jordan, Coral, and Ian was cancelled due to inclement weathersorry kids.  We did enjoy watching the baseball all-star game live from Pittsburgh even though the NL blew a ninth inning lead with two outs and on of the best all-time closers on the mound.

July 12, 2006
We found out today that Jordan will be in Ms. Therriens first grade class and Coral will be in the Performing Arts Magnet at Gardendale Elementary Magnet School when we registered them for school.  After dinner, Amy visited Shannah, David, and cute little baby Gunnar at the hospital (not to say that Shannah and David didnt look cute too).

July 13, 2006
Amy and Dan took Jordan and Coral to McDonalds for lunch to celebrate the end of summer for them at all-daycare.  Ian sounds like hes getting the bad end of the deal, but he got to have naptime while we were all outnow which option sounds more fun?!

July 14, 2006
Coral and Jordan did some bowling on their last day of summer break.  Later, gymnastics was back from break and Amy did an early shift to take them.

July 15, 2006
Our busy day started with a birthday party at the Durhams for Trent.  Amy then took Coral to birthday party number 2 for Marisa at the Triple-R Ranch.  Back at the Durhams, they rented one of those blow-up water slides for the back yard and even Amy, Dan, and other parents took a few turns down the slide on this hot day.  Once we were all funned out, we went back to the ranch to pick-up Cowgirl Coral where Marisa was opening the last few presents.  On our way to Wal-Mart to do some school supplies shopping, we stopped by Barkingham Palace to reserve space for Zoey during our trip to Pittsburgh to meet Brendan.  After a good couple of hours of getting to know all parts of the Super Wal-Mart while supplies shopping, we figured wed kill the 5th bird with the same Viera rock by doing some school clothes shopping at the Avenue.  We stopped at Kohls, Justice, and Old Navy to find new outfits for Ian, Jordan, and Coral.  Needless to say (we rarely say that), we all were tired by the time we got home, but that didnt stop Coral and Amy when they went to Target to get Coral her final item on the school supplies list, a new back-pack.

July 16, 2006
We finally got back on the holy side of things and went to church.  While we were at it, we decided to get back into the entire routine and went to Victorias for Sunday brunch.  After the nice, leisurely Sunday living was done, it was time to get to work.  Dan and Amy spent most of the afternoon baking in the hot sun and getting the yard in tip-top shape.  That wasnt the end of the choresafter a quick jump in the pool to cool off, Amy went to Publix and Dan paid the bills.  We were happy to sit down and have dinner for a break, but then it was time for all the preparations of the first day of school.

July 17, 2006
Jordan and Coral enjoyed their first day of school.  They were each filled with stories and told many of them when we picked them up from after-care, but they continued through dinner and the rest of the evening.  Today are marked the first time in about 4 years that the Space Shuttle landed at KSC, which saved NASA a bunch of money (and not on car insurance).  Dan, Amy, and most of KSC went outside to try and watch it in person, but the overcast skies made it tough to see.  Amy didn't get to see any of it from ground level, but Dan saw the final seconds from the new space on the 5th floor of the O&C.

July 18, 2006
Ian enjoyed his last water-play day at Destiny.  You can really see the signs of closure for Destinyon Monday, they passed out pictures of the kids to the parents as they came to pick them up and there were a bunch from the early days of Ian in the toddler room, ahhhhh the memories.

July 19, 2006
Jordan got her first real taste of "life with homework"let the good times roll!

July 20, 2006
While at work minding our own business, a waterspout was spotted at KSCeveryone thinks that the only exciting things that happen at KSC are shuttles and rockets getting blasted into space.

July 21, 2006
Today was Ian's last day at Destiny...there were many tears shed, but luckily none of them were from Ian.  Other than that it was a pretty normal Friday with gymnastics and an early bedtimesometimes you just need your rest.

July 22, 2006
We did some early morning chores, went to the library to get more reading materials and DVDs, and then to BJs for a shopping spreeman, that place can really suck the money right out of your wallet.  After all our work was completed, we had time to relax at the Launay's house.  We swam and grilled out before the clouds rolled in without any rain.

July 23, 2006
Well, with one week under our belts, we couldn't make it two in a rowyes, you guessed it, we missed another week of church.  Maybe once CCD is back, we will get back.  The rest of the day was kinda lazy with some swimming and grilling, but once the heavy rains hit, we stayed inside.

July 24, 2006
Today was Ians first day at his new school, Alpha Academy and he had a good day.  Although school has not officially started yet, he is getting acquainted with the school, the teachers, and the other kids for the next two weeks.

July 25, 2006
After school, daycare, and work, Dan and Amy had to sign a few papers to get their loan refinanced to lock in the low rate before rates rise too high.

July 26, 2006
After school, daycare, and work, Amy took Coral to do some more clothes shopping and take advantage of the tax holiday for back to school stuff.

July 27, 2006
Soon after we all arrived home, Amy was on her way back out the door for the GEMS Open House.  We learned that Jordans teacher, Ms. Therrien, will be taking a leave of absence because of a sickness in the family and we are all very saddened by the news.  We also learned that Amy is very excited about Corals new teacher, Ms. Barone, and her teaching techniques.

July 28, 2006
Just your ordinary, every week Friday filled with school, work, and gymnastics.  The Taffer kids joined us for a night swim while the Taffer parents went to dinner.

July 29, 2006
We picked today as the work day and got most of the outside work done in the morning before the real sun kicked in and toasted us, but we also had inside work to get completed the rest of the day.  Later, Amy had some time to get a hair cut and her nails done.

July 30, 2006
We made it back to church and Sunday brunch once again, so that's a good thing.  The rest of the day was spent in the poolwhile everyone and Lauren swam, Dan scrubbed the pool tile down.

July 31, 2006
We all got back to the grind of a short work-week.
