| June 1, 2006
Well, it is another important day in the Dan and Amy history timeline! The temperature of the pool has finally reached the point to allow after-school swimming. June 2, 2006 Dan took the day off from work and joined Coral's and Jordan's classes on a field trip to the beachonly in Florida do kids take field trips to the beach. This was more work than if Dan would have stayed at work for the day, but it was a nice day to be at the beach and the kids had a blast! Later, gymnastics got all shook upIan's class was permanently cancelled due to lack of participation from other kids so they moved him up to a new class at 5 PM (instead of 4 PM) and to keep with the time change Jordan also got moved up to a more advanced class during the same time and she excelled at the new challenge. Coral's class remained the same, but it is nice to not have an hour break in between classes. June 3, 2006 Today was set aside to get some work done around the house and then relax by the poolAmy and Dan took turns working and caring for the kids. The Taffer kids came over and joined Ian, Jordan, and Coral for a swim and then they whisked away Coral to join them at a piano recital. This left Jordan and Ian with Dan and Amy for swimming and grilling for dinner the rest of the evening. June 4, 2006 To finish up the trilogy of great days in Rembert historyHappy 12th Anniversary to Dan & Amy! After church on the summer schedule (an hour later) and brunch, the rains came and lasted the rest of the day. While this is a welcome sight during this dry spell, it dampened the spirits of the plans to quickly paint and then swim the rest of the day. So instead, we painted the kids' bathroom and watched movies the rest of the afternoon. The last movie was a new one for us, but a dated one for America, "Seabiscuit". It was pretty long, but moved fairly well and was an inspirational, true story about three underdogs and one underhorse, which wasnt quite as good as all the accolades it receivedAmy gives it 2 "long winks". June 5, 2006 Happy Anniversary to Marie and Dwain!!! Because of the busy weekend, Amy held off until this evening to do the weekly food shopping. While Amy was off buying groceries, Dan got the laundry started and got the bathroom partially returned to normal and the paint job looks good! June 6, 2006 Amy started the day off with an ultrasoundno she is not pregnant, she has had an unexplained pain in her abdomen that needed to be checked. There will be more details as they come in on this. After work, Dan jammed with Chuch and Johnthis would be the first jam in just about 2-years and a long-awaited manifestation of were getting the band back together. June 7, 2006 Kind of a slow day in the world of the Florida Remberts for a change. June 8, 2006 Today was the last day of school for Jordan and Coral and Jordans class along with the rest of the Kindergarteners had a little graduation ceremony to congratulate the students and welcome them to the big first grade. After the ceremony, Jordan joined the rest of the pod (Corals class and kids from 1st and 2nd grades) on the field for some water-play fun! June 9 16, 2006 First ever Florida Remberts' Family Vacation!!! Yes, we were only 15 minutes from home, but it seemed like a million miles! We had a great time on our first trip to our oceanfront property at the Ron Jon Resort for our timeshare week. We spent most of the time at the pool and beach, but did have to spend some time indoors because of Alberto, the first named tropical storm of the year. It may have dumped some rain in the middle of the trip, but never dampened the spirits. During the "down-time", we played miniature golf, placed 4th in a scavenger hunt, utilized the indoor playroom, and saw the movie "Cars", which everyone absolutely lovedAmy gives it 1/2 "long wink". We even spent a day in Orlando at Islands of Adventure/Universal Studios, and we mean the entire dayfrom 8 AM 'til 11:30 PM. Dan and Coral rode the big rollercoasters, Amy and Coral rode the big water ride, but everyone else was included on the other rides (even a couple guys from the boy-band 'N Synch). All-in-all we had a tremendous time and even bought the option on the other year so that we could enjoy this fun every year instead of ever-other year. We can't wait 'til next year! June 17, 2006 Now that vacation is over, it is time to get to workDan did the yard work and Amy did the house work. It was pretty obvious that our vacation wore out the kids because they wanted to only play indoorsIan even fell asleep at the breakfast bar while listening to head phones in the middle of the afternoon. June 18, 2006 Happy Fathers Day!!! We were hoping to go to church, brunch, and do some swimming, but nothing panned out as expected...we woke up late and sat around most of the day watching videos and the rain fall. June 19, 2006 We all got back into our regularly scheduled programs. Ian got a little extra with a field trip to the bowling lanes and even got a strike so we are told. June 20, 2006 Today was water-play day for all three of the Rembert kids and it was plenty hot for it! On the doctor front, it was also a busy day. Jordan had her ears checked again to find no water retention, Coral had her teeth sealed to stop a cavity from fully forming, and Zoey had kennel cough diagnosed and received her medicines to help speed the heeling process. June 21, 2006 Our first visitors since February arrived todaythe Marshalls. Once we happily greeted them all, we took time from our catching-up, swimming, and making hamburgers and hot dogs on the grill to watch the Delta II rocket launch from the Cape. June 22, 2006 While we were off at work and daycare, the Marshalls spent some time at the beach. After arrival at the house, we packed up the two minivans and went to the strip mall about 1/2 mile down the road for a nice Italian dinner with our guests. June 23, 2006 After getting the kids for gymnastics, Amy relieved Dan of his duties so he could pick up Tim and hit the gambling boat for the night (and the gambling boat hit both Tim and Dan right back!). Amy picked up pizza for dinner and later had some "talk-time for Amy and Marcy". June 24, 2006 The Florida Remberts and the Marshalls all headed to Ron Jons and relived the fun from the vacation time of a week ago. The rains threatened most of the afternoon, but held off long enough to get plenty of swimming in and then we went to the indoor play room until the rains passed. Once we got home and had some dinner, we got right back to the swimming to make sure all the kids were water-logged before bedtime. June 25, 2006 On our last day together, we made sure to get all the fun in that we could...the kids started off in the pool, but to make sure they didn't get too much sun, we packed up the cars and headed to Shore Lanes for some bowling. We bowled until the kids couldn't lift the balls any more and then went home to grill some chicken and get a last round of swimming in before bedtime. June 26, 2006 Tim, Marcy, Natalie, and Cam left today while we were back at work and daycare, but it sure was nice to get a visit from our friends from Pittsburgh. June 27, 2006 Coral and Jordan won the scavenger hunt and Ian had water-play day at daycarethe parental-units did nothing exciting. June 28, 2006 Jordan took advantage of Hawaiian day at all-daycare to do her favorite thingdress up. She found her grass skirt and leis from her birthday party and won first prize. June 29, 2006 To keep the streak alive (and we are not talking about the Pirates 13-game losing streak), Jordan won another contest at all-daycare. June 30, 2006 Jordan, Coral, and the rest of the summer program went bowling this morning for their field trip, but no contests. Later, there was a reversal in schedules as Amy had the early shift and Dan the late one for gymnastics. |
