| Here is what is going on with the Florida Remberts |
| August 1, 2005
Dan spent the day on travel to the state capital, Tallahassee, for a town meeting with the FDEP on some new rules. Dan also visited all the big Florida colleges (University of Florida and Florida State) and found that Tally is a boring town while school is out for the summer. Amy tried to stay sane while keeping the kids in-line. August 2, 2005 After the brief meeting, Dan rode back home with some quick visits in the panhandle of Florida. Amy had a doctors appointment and took the kids to McDonalds for dinner. August 3, 2005 After Dan and Amy returned the rental car, they were both back to work and the kids were back in school (not that there is a change or anything). August 4, 2005 With Amys gums and jaw still sore from the tooth removal last week, she went to get this checked and found out she has dry socket, which sounds just as bad as it is. She will take antibiotics for a while to try and clear it up. Later, Dan took 3rd in a small tournament with some poker friends, unfortunately, only the top 2 positions were in the moneyarrrrgggghhhh! August 5, 2005 Dan and Amy both took the day off to enjoy the 2nd Annual End-of-the-Summer-Trip-to-Wet-n-Wild with Destiny. Coral and Jordan both joined Ian and the rest of the daycare on the trip to Orlando on the school bus. The weather cooperated with the rain staying away most of the day. The skies opened up on the way home and we decided to take our own car next year for additional comfort, but everyone enjoyed the day. August 6, 2005 The head-cold Dan was feeling earlier in the week finally caught up to him and caused him to sit by the TV and not join in on the fun that every one else had as they played in the pool. The weather wasnt an issue at all during the day and into the evening hours. August 7, 2005 Dan continued to stay inside and surf the channels while more pool fun was had by all. Later, Lauren and Kylie joined in on the pool fun and stayed for pizza. August 8, 2005 Everyone was back to the grind today and Ian started his new class at Pre-school with the rest of the 3-year-olds. His teacher for this year will be Ms. Sherrol. August 9, 2005 This morning's successful landing of Discovery at Edwards AFB, CA completed the safe mission (STS-114), but who knows when NASA will return the shuttle to flight. August 10, 2005 Not much to report from work, school, or pre-school, but afterwards Dan got to cutting the grass. August 11, 2005 Well, soccer season has started...Jordan's team, the Force, had their first practice this evening and it looks like she lost none of her skills from last year. The good thing is she has the same coach and many of the same players including Rayden, her friend from last year. Almost forgot, Dan played cards for about an hour and a half, so that gives you a good indication of the type of cards he was getting...oh well, guess you can win them all, but you would like to win one. August 12, 2005 Dan had a work meeting in Orlando that prevented him from getting the kids in time to attend the early gymnastics class for Ian and Jordan, but just in time to get them ready for Amy to take them all to the late class for Coral. While they were off at class, Dan then joined some people from work to say good-bye/happy birthday to one of the summer students, Stephanie and then joined his poker game at its regularly scheduled time. August 14, 2005 After another long hiatus, Dan finally took Jordan and Coral to church...we have been teetering on which church to attend because of CCD. The one that is close, but has CCD on Wednesday (right in the middle of a busy week) or the one back in Rockledge, but has CCD on Sunday. We finally decided on St. Mary's, our last Rockledge link. Later, Amy had a jewelry party so Dan was instructed to get the kids out of the house. He and John chose Ron Jon's, but the weather didn't think that was a good idea. So after an hour's visit, we were all off to the Shaffers for the afternoon, while the ladies picked out jewelry. August 15, 2005 The Caravan saga continues...last Thursday we took the Caravan in for an oil change and to get the "light" problem worked out. They charged us $78 to get the computer hooked-up to see what the problem was, without avail. They wanted to charge us another $78 to run another test to get to the root of the problem...well, we decided it wasn't worth it and we could take it to our normal service station and save money. We did that today and found out that they cant find the problem, so it is back to the dealership...oh well. August 16, 2005 Dan was tasked to stay home to wait for the DIRECTV satellite service person to fix the problem with the signal. He decided to also use this time to get the modem on the computer fixed. At one point in the morning, he was on the phone with Dell and answering the door bell for DIRECTV. Joyfully, the satellite was fixed that day and a new modem is on its way. Later, Jordan completed her 3rd practice while we still are waiting to hear from Coral's coach (who ever that may be). August 17, 2005 Well, Coral was not feeling good and had a fever, so she and Amy stayed home for some rest and wellness. Speaking of Coral, we got some great NEWS about her at school, but don't say anything, it is a surprise until Tuesday. Later, we were all supposed to go to Beef O'Brady's for dinner, but Dan and Coral stayed home while Jordan, Ian, and Amy went. August 18, 2005 A pretty normal ThursdayAmy took the kids to school, Dan picked them up, we all ate dinner & hung-out, and then Dan did his poker thing with more normal Thursday-group results. August 19, 2005 After a couple of missed appointments, Dan finally met-up with the computer guy to get the new modem installedwe are now up and running! More normality when all the kids attended their gymnastics class and Dan and Amy ordered out for a date-night-dinner. August 20, 2005 We mainly swam and finished various chores around the house today. Luke and Lauren joined us during the lunch-time eating/swimming-festivities. Later, Coral and Jordan went with Amy to an open house for all the work-from-home-sales companies you can think of in one placethey didn't buy much, but showed their faces. August 21, 2005 Dan took Coral and Jordan to church while Amy took Ian to Publix in the morning. Later, Dan installed the new faucet in the kids bathroom while everyone else swam. Amy had yet another jewelry party she attendedthis one was for Kristie who came to Amys last week. After she got back, we had dinner and then Dan cut the grassthats enough for one day. August 22, 2005 The final closeout item was completed today, but we are not happy at all of the results. We got the Caravan back in for service and they found the problemit was a small hose that was replaced and the engine light was reset. For those of you keeping track at home, that is about $190 we spent on a $3 hosewe got hosed, alright! August 23, 2005 Amy and Dan placed their proud hats on this morning and attended Corals Silver Dollar Award ceremony. This is Corals 4th award, but this is the first time she received the award in the first month of schoolwoo hoo!!! Later, Jordan had soccer practiceher team may be the only team properly prepared for the season opener this weekend. August 24, 2005 Coral finally had her first practice. She is on an all-girls team this year just like last, but the difference this year is they will be playing only other all-girls teams. After practice, we went to Olive Garden and celebrated Coral award from yesterday. August 25, 2005 Tropical Storm/Hurricane Katrina started sending the wet-stuff our waywe will be safe from this one as it heads south of us, but it will sure dampen us. Amy finally had an uneventful dentist visit and Coral had a very event-filled, student-lead parent conference. She showed us around the room and completed some daily tasks and problems and then we got a chance to talk with Mrs. Wallace to find out that Coral is doing well so farof course, that was made obvious with the Silver Dollar Award on Tuesday. August 26, 2005 The kids had their weekly gymnastics classes, but Dan didnt have his bi-weekly poker game (Pat and Jessie had their baby, so the game will take a back-seat for a week or two). Amy spent the rest of the night packing and getting ready for her 2nd annual trip to Phoenix. August 27, 2005 Amy jumped on a plane early to relax in the desert by the pool and got away from the madness of this Saturday. The rest of us woke up, had breakfast, dropped Coral off at the Taffers for her day o' parting, and went to Jordan's first soccer game of the year. Team Force looked good with an early lead, but got tired and allowed a few goals to tie it upthink the game ended in a draw. Coral spent the day with a few of her closest friends from school for Emily's birthday party. First they had lunch at McDonalds, then some mini-golf, and finished the day off at Chuck E. Cheese's. Dan, Jordan, and Ian fit some afternoon swimming in and then picked up Coral at Gardendale in the evening after a quick surprise visit from Shannah, her friend, and Sierra. August 28, 2005 It was a pretty lazy day around the house for Dan and the kids. We tried to get in the swimming pool, but some thunder scared us off. We did get a new cordless phone since the other one broke and we had no idea if any one attempted to call us with no ringing phones. Dan also had his fantasy football draft in the evening after dinner. Amy signed up for the conference and relaxed by the pool for most of the daythe life of a single, childless woman. August 29, 2005 While Dan got the kids to school on time and fed and cleaned (all major accomplishments), Amy's been off in Phoenix sunning during the many breaks and down-time at the Filemaker "conference"live it up, girlfriend! (No, that's not sullenness you hear, that's the sound of all the delighted, but envious, mothers out there.) August 30, 2005 After work, Dan met with Mr. Giddy and discussed Jordans progress during their parent-teacher conference. She is doing well and learning all her ABCs and 123s, but she is doing particularly well in all the social aspects of school. Mr. Giddy also said, Jordan always has a smile on her face and makes him laugh at least once a day. Later, Dan took the kids to Sonnys BBQ to celebrate another glorious school report. Amy had a busy day at the conferenceafter all the sessions, the sponsors invited the attendees all to a country & western-themed dinner party and Carol (one of Amys (and Dans) co-workers) said Amy had to dance with her. August 31, 2005 After work and school, Dan picked up the kids to take them to Corals soccer practice, but the weather did not cooperate. By the time we got there, the rain had soaked the field and practice was cancelled. So we headed home with cupcakes in hand ready for the next day. Amy found out that next years conference will be held in Orlandolooks like the traveling circus is over after this year, so she just enjoyed her last day and night in Phoenix. |
