With the summer in full-force, it was time to take the kids on the annual Summer Intern/Co-op Helicopter Ride with your hosts, Dan and John.  These are the days that make working at KSC awesome!  With no gymnastics this week, the excitement of the evening was the high-stakes poker game, which put some of the Vegas losses to rest.

July 2, 2005
We all got up early to take a trip to the resort for the day.  We arrived at about 10 AM, met up Shannah, swam for a while, and then packed up and left at about 1:30 PM to avoid the line of thunderstorms that quickly rolled in and spoiled the afternoon of fun.  The rest of the afternoon we just hung out at the house and did a few chores so that we could try to play again tomorrow.

July 3, 2005
Amy took her turn at doing some yard workshe removed all weeds from the planted areas in the back yard.  After she was done, we enjoyed the rest of the day in the pool.  It was nice to finally have a day with little to no threat of rain.

July 4, 2005
Happy Independence Day!!!  Happy Birthday to John also!!!
Dan took his turn at doing some yard workhe cut the grass (which is growing like a weed with all the rain) and planted some seed in the bare spots.  We all utilized the pool the rest of the afternoon.  While the food was being cooked on the grill, we lit up some sparklers and threw some snap-pops to celebrate our holiday the red-neck way.  After dinner, we packed up in the car and went to Cocoa Village for the big orchestra/fireworks show.

July 5, 2005
Back to the grindAmy and Dan went back to work and the kids all had water day at their respective daycare, so basically we all had fun!

July 6, 2005
After work and daycare, we invited the Taffer kids over for an evening swim.  Dan was busy doing laundry, dishes, garbage, and running the sprinklers (no rain in a while) to join everyone.

July 7, 2005
After work, Dan tried his hand at live poker in the poker room at the dog track in Melbourne.  He went with a few of his poker buddies and it was supposed to be for a tournament, but you have to show up quite early to get in, so we got in some low limit (1-2) cash games.  Dan may have lost, but at least he didnt lose as much as he might of in the tournament, so WAY TO GO DAN!

July 8, 2005
Week 2 of the split time at gymnastics worked much better.  Ian and Jordan had doing well with the early time and having fun and with no flat tires; Amy was able to get Coral to class on time.  Later, Dan and Amy enjoyed a quiet dinner from Carrabbas.

July 9, 2005
An exciting day started with the entire family going to its first combined baby shower for Pat and Jessie at Chuch and Lauras house.  The kids swam for the most part when rain bands from hurricane Dennis werent hitting.  Later, Dan and Amy dropped the kids off in the capable hands of our new baby-sitter, Marjika (pronounced, Me-r?-ka).  Then they went back to Chuch and Lauras for the adult, surprise party for Lauras 40th birthday.

July 10, 2005
Soon Jordan and Coral will be starting and back to school, so Amy took them out to find some school clothes for this year.  While they were away, Dan and Ian worked on getting Ians blinds up in his room.  The rest of the day was spent watching some frightening images of the first major hurricane in July hit the panhandle of Floridaboy are we glad Dan didnt take that job at Eglin Air Force Base now with Ivan last year and Dennis this year hitting that area so bad.

July 11, 2005
With the first hurricane through for the year, we got back to normal life and weather.  After work, Amy had to stop by Publix to get our food for the week, which she did get this weekend.

July 12, 2005
Amy had a doctors appointment so that she could get some more contactswe mention this because the sight of her after she opened the door and walked in the house with those silly glasses they give you after your eyes have been dilated was priceless.

July 13, 2005
Today was a big day that ended up not being hugemore on that later.  First off, it was registration day at Gardendale.  Coral was pretty normal, but the big story is with Jordan and her inauguration into Kindergartenwoo hoo!  Her first day will be on the 21st, so look for more on that day.  Corals first day of 3rd grade will be on the 18th.  Unfortunately just about 2 hours before launch, the long-awaited return to flight mission got scrubbed and was a major disappointment in our area for both visitors and workers alike.

July 14, 2005
The orthodontist saga continues...we started a new dentistry for the kids and Coral was the Ginny-pig.  In order to start the procedure, they took an x-ray of her mouth and found some weird news that we never knew before...she is missing one of her permanent teeth.  We also got some news about the appliance...she will be taking 6-months off to give her mouth a rest.

July 15, 2005
After gymnastics, Dan took some of the interns (Jim and Rachel from Rehab Works and Chris from his office) on a little field trip on the gambling boat.  Chris was the only winner from this night.

July 16, 2005
We all got up kinda early for the whole family fun-filled day.  First, we went to Trentons 3rd birthday party where they had the Rockledge Fire Department show-off their truck.  Jordan was the only one that really got into it and sat in the drivers seat and wore the hats and spoke on the headphones while the other two kids just watched.  We then went back for some pizza, cake, ice cream, and opening presents.  After the party, we did some furniture shoppingthis time it was for Ians big-boy bed!  We went to a few places and finally found one at the same place where we got Jordans big-girl bed.  While we were out sweating our buttuties off, we decided that it was time to get home and we all jumped in the pool to cool off.  Jordan has been swimming lately without her swimmies (or water-wings), this must have motivated Ian because he decided today that it was time to swim without swimmies.  After some heart-stopping moments, Ian did very well and is ready to join our local swim team.  In the evening once the sun wasnt blazing hot, Dan cut the grass and Amy cleaned up.

July 17, 2005
We were supposed to have a visit from the Shaffers, but Krista was not feeling up to par, so we spent most of the day out by the pool and we fit in some errands around the house along the way.

July 18, 2005
Today was Coral's first day of 3rd grade, so Dan and Amy walked her to her new classroom and were greeted by her new teacher, Mrs. Wallaceahhh, the start of a new school year, what excitement!  Check back for Jordan's first day on Thursday.

July 19, 2005
After we dropped Ian and Coral off at school, Dan and Amy took Jordan to visit with Mr. Giddy (her teacher, who also had Coral).  GEMS started performing "screening tests" prior to entry into kindergarten to get an idea of where the students are with their development.  Jordan did well and is now ready for kindergarten both mentally and physically.  Speaking of school, Coral got her first spelling assignment with words like "photosynthesis, chlorophyll, adaptation, and pollination"...it's going to be a long year, we didn't learn those words until 9th grade!

July 20, 2005
A slow day amongst all these big news days, but it's occasionally nice to have the rest.

July 21, 2005
Well, it finally came...Jordan's first day of kindergarten!!!  She was so excited and everyone in the family handled themselves very well.  When we dropped Ian off, he was waving and saying good-bye like a big boy.  When we went to Jordan's room, she was calm and relaxed and listened to Mr. Giddy's procedures.  Amy didn't cry hysterically, Dan took plenty of pictures, and Coral gave Jordan her space and wasn't overbearing and went to her room when it was time.  By the time we picked them all up at after-care, there were a thousand stories, so we decided to celebrate at Sonny's.  Our personal favorite was when Jordan told us "everybody said I was cute" with a somewhat agitated tone, while grinning...hmmm, maybe she enjoyed the attention.

July 22, 2005
As we finished out an exciting week of firsts and beginnings, the most exciting part of the day happened when Dan tried to get all three kids rounded up at the two schools, changed into their gymnastics clothes, and off to class in time for it to start.

July 23, 2005
Amy spent the morning and into the afternoon doing some much needed yard work as the rest of the family watched from the pool in the blazing heat.  Later, Dan and Amy had a date with John and Krista and got caught up with all the Shaffer happenings as they informed them of all the Rembert happenings at dinner and drinks.

July 24, 2005
For those of you that thought Dan got off easy yesterday, you were wrong.  Today was Dans turn to spend some time in the high temperatures and humidity and get some yard work completed as the family waved from the pool (which isnt much cooler than the outside temperatures at 90 degrees).

July 25, 2005
Back to the grind and back to the normal schedule where Amy dropped the kids off and Dan picked the kids up at Destiny for Ian and Gardendale for Coral and Jordan.

July 26, 2005
An exciting day at workthe Space Shuttle Discovery (STS-114) finally lifted off and returned KSC to flight!  Dan and Amy watched this momentous occasion from the top of the O&C (the building they both work), while the kids watched from school.  Traffic was bad, but the mood of the center made up for it as we held our collective breathes at take-off!  Later after the excitement subsided, Amy went to get her wisdom tooth out because it has been bothering her.  The procedure was a quick success, so she rested while Dan did everything.

July 27, 2005
To ease the pain of a missing giant tooth, Amy took an extra dose of her pain medication, but it didnt exactly treat her right.  She stayed home sick from work with dizzy and nauseous spells all day long.  By evening, she started feeling better, but continued to rest.

July 28, 2005
We received bad news today about the shuttle launch and future launches, the fleet is temporarily grounded.  The foam continued to threaten the integrity of the orbiter and this time it did not cause any major damage, but the next time it could be fatal, so the decision was made to fix the problem before more missions are attempted.  Amy was feeling much better and returned to work.  Dan went into work early in order to cut the grass.  Amy picked up the kids and brought them home in just enough time to turn around and go to the Gardendale Open House.  Coral and Jordan are both doing well in their classes, but both teachers could not stop talking about Jordan and how much of a joy she is to have aroundsounded like Jordan is adjusting well to here new school!

July 29, 2005
Dan had a hold of the reins this evening and took the kids back and forth to gymnastics while Amy went out for dinner and a movie with some friends.  The dinner was Pizzeria Uno and was described as delicious.  The movie was Must Love Dogs and was described as an excellent chick-flick that didnt get enough stars, so Amy thought she would help that cause by giving this film 1 long wink.

July 30, 2005
Dan and Amy had their co-workers and summer students over for a little pool party and cook-out to say thanks for the "free" work this summer...dubbed the "Rembert Rager".  The list of attendees included (in order of appearance): Chris, Laura, Stephanie, Dolores (Stephanie's mom), RJ, Tiffany, Doug, Kristie, Trenton, Eric, Jen, Chloe, Jim, and Rachel.

July 31, 2005
After a morning of trivial tasks, we went to the Shaffers to help celebrate Tuffers birthday.
