| Here is what is going on with the Florida Remberts |
| August 1, 2003 Today was the day o' field-trips...all the kids, except for Ian, got to leave their places of business. Coral had a trip to Gatorland and had a great time with her class. Jordan went to Watermania and must of drank too much of the water because she had to make an early deposit on the way back. You know how it's hard to potty-train some kids, well Jordan must got it down because she now can go potty in a cup in front of a bunch of kids on a school bus, we are so proud of our baby...we got a "mini-Liz" on our hands! Dan even had a field-trip of his own...Frank received an award from the new Center Director, Jim Kennedy, so we went out after work to celebrate a little at Shuttles Bar. August 2, 2003 Dan got up early and cut the grass in the front before Coral, Amy and Jordan went to gymnastics. After they got back and we all ate, Dan finished cutting the grass in the back yard, while Amy did some weeding around the yard. In the mail, it paid off to have all these kids, Uncle Sam sent us a check for $1200 ($400/kid)...woo hoo! August 3, 2003 Amy and Coral went to church, did some food shopping, and then Coral had another social engagement (b-day party), so Amy dropped her off. While they were gone, Dan (and Jordan) cleaned-up the back porch while Ian was taking his morning nap. Rain the rest of the day. August 4, 2003 Not much going on, just car-pooling back to the grind. August 5, 2003 Dan and Amy went to Grill's to visit Heidi again and to say good-bye to DeWayne (Summer Intern) with the rest of the RehabWorks Staff. Everyone else is healthy, so we are all happy! August 6, 2003 Happy 17 Month Birthday to Ian!!! Everyone take cover!!! Tornados were spotted in the Rockledge and KSC area, but everyone and everything is OK with no damage done. August 7, 2003 More tornados rolled through the area today...we think we saw Auntie Em fly by our car. August 8, 2003 Because our kids are growing, occasionally we need to buy them new clothes and/or shoes (this time it was shoes), so we took a trip to the mall after the day's activities. We also needed to eat and buy the socialite (Coral) gifts for this weekend's parties. We came home with no gifts and 3 pairs of shoes...one pair for each child, not to mention a headache for each adult. August 9, 2003 Rain all day, so we were only able to get the socialite to her first birthday party after she partook in gymnastics...Dan, Jordan, and Ian hung out and did laundry and other chores. August 10, 2003 Dan and Coral first went to church and then Amy and Coral (the socialite) had another birthday party to attend. After they got back, it looked like the weather was going to cooperate long enough for a trip to the beach (and it did). We made some sand castles, ran on the beach, and saw some things that made Ian go "Oooo! Oooo!"...birds, waves, sand, and most of all, at least 15 minutes was spent watching a crab go in and out with the surf, exciting stuff! After we got all the sand out of every crevasse...Ian even put sand in his mouth a few times, which must have meant he was hungry, so we stopped at McDonald's drive-thru and got some food, which even tasted a little like sand. To relax later that night, Dan and Amy ordered a pretty funny and mindless movie on pay-per-view..."Old School". If you are looking for an "Oscar" movie, keep going, but otherwise, it's a pretty good movie for a laugh...Amy gives it 2 1/2 "long winks". August 11, 2003 Amy took Coral and Jordan to the dentist for Jordan's first check-up and Coral's annual check-up...both their teeth look good and they got lots of stickers for jobs well done. After work, Dan picked-up the kids so Amy could sign-up for her "Medical Terminology" class at BCC (Brevard Community College). She is still working on her hair to make it look like it did in the '80s so she feels more at home back in school. August 12, 2003 Dan went in early again today because his summer intern, Miller, went on a tour of the OPFs (Orbiter Processing Facilities 1, 2, & 3) and Dan just had to join her to make sure she was OK. This is Miller's last week at KSC for the summer, so she has to get out and see all the cool stuff before she heads back to Rice University. All three bays had Obiters getting prepared for "return to flight"...they saw 2 out of 3 (Discover and Atlantis) up close. August 13, 2003 Dan continued the "Miller Summer Tour 2003"...today the visited the launch pad (Pad B) to take a look around from top to bottom. August 14, 2003 Not much going on today, just work, school, and daycare. August 15, 2003 This was Miller's last day, so our office went out for lunch and to say good-bye. After work, Dan stopped for a quick beer or two with a few people from work...that was the extent of our Friday excitement (boy, it's tough getting old). August 16, 2003 Amy took Jordan and Coral to get her school book for her class and then to gymnastics. After they got back, Dan cut the grass and then joined the family in the pool on this very hot, but sunny, day. It was finally nice to spend the day in the pool...it has been a while. It was so nice, that Dan and Amy spent an enjoyable evening on the back porch after the kids were in bed. August 17, 2003 Amy and Coral went to church and signed Coral up for a new CCD-year. After some food shopping, the rest of the day was spent in the pool...the first full weekend of nice weather has helped our skin darken back up to the levels we are used to seeing. Later, we got the "dinner and a movie" from Pizza Hut, so we watched "Honeymoon in Vegas" after the kids were in bed. August 18, 2003 Back to the grind and back to the afternoon thunderstorms. August 19, 2003 After work, Amy started here class at Brevard Community College (BCC). She is taking Introduction to Medical Terminology, which is a class to help her at work. August 20, 2003 Dan had a cough and fever, so he stayed home from work to try to get better and not spread it throughout KSC and the family. August 21, 2003 Another day of sick leave for Dan. Amy is stuck with the kids to-and-from-school/daycare work, which is a tough job, but at least Dan has been making dinner for them. August 22, 2003 Congratulations to Dwain for Graduating with High Honors from Nursing School!!! Dan still has a lingering cough so you guessed it, he stayed home. Later, we had pizza and a movie night and even had some popcorn for dessert. August 23, 2003 Amy, Coral and Jordan did the gymnastics trip. The rest of the day was spent inside out of the rain, so Dan and Coral started a Monoploly-fest. August 24, 2003 It was a nice day, so we cleaned-up the pool and did some swimming all day. August 25, 2003 Coral had the day off from school, so Dan stayed home another day for work and hung out with Coral. They first went to Chilli's for lunch and then tried to go to the doctor's but got the wrong address. A funny thing happened on the way back...Dan wanted to check prices on Jeep Wranglers, so they stopped in and drove one of them home. After Amy got home with a sick Ian (yes, now it's starting to spread), she did a test-drive, Dan took the Jeep back, haggled with the salesmen for a few hours, and tried to see the doctor again. This didn't work out either, so Dan came home with no Jeep and no medical advice or medicine...oh well. August 26, 2003 Ian ended up with what Dan had (and still has) for a week, so he stayed home with Amy. They went to the doctor's to find out that he has an ear infection...this is not good. Coral had her school pictures today, so she was excited to get to school. And for the finale, Dan got a call at work to pick up the Jeep, they brought the price down low enough that we got it! Guess, if you wait long enough, car salesmen will give into just about anything. They ended up paying more for the Sunfire in a trade-in than Dan and Amy paid for it 3-years ago. August 27, 2003 Dan went to work while Amy stayed home to get Ian all better. He was running around again, but he must of had a reaction to the medicine because he got a rash, so we got different medicine. Dan picked-up Coral and Jordan from school in the Jeep with the top down, they enjoyed that! August 28, 2003 We signed and submitted the papers for our closing on our house in Pittsburgh, which is now on September 3rd, so our part is done, except for cashing the check. Coral lost another tooth at school, so we expect another visit from the tooth-fairy tonight. August 29, 2003 To start the 3-day weekend off right, Dan took a couple hours off to celebrate happy-hour with John and Frank. Coral opened a few early presents through the mail after we all got home. August 30, 2003 Today was officially work-day...we all did work so that we could enjoy the rest of the weekend in peace. After we got done in the evening, Dan and Amy got Carrabba's to go and the kids enjoyed some gourmet food from Le Wendy's. August 31, 2003 Dan and Coral went to church and to Publix for the big cookout. The Shaffer's joined us for an all-day-outsided-by-the-pool kinda day. |
