| Here is what is going on with the Florida Remberts |
| July 1, 2001 The Florida Remberts have been the Florida Remberts for 1 full year!!! Dan spent most of today in the Pittsburgh International Airport window shopping...Neal drove Eric, Becky, and Dan to the airport for our flights at about 2:30 PM. Eric and Becky's flight to Orlando was at 4:15 and Dan's to Atlanta then Orlando was at 4:30. E & B actually left at about 7 PM and Dan never left due to bad weather in Pittsburgh and it wasn't snow. So Dan just went back to his parent's house at about 9:30 PM and would try again Monday in first class! Back in Florida, everybody spent the day in the pool and the night at the beach. July 2, 2001 First class is definitely the way to fly! Dan finally made it home and got a very warm welcome from Coral, but a bad one from Delta...they switched luggage on me. When he got to the Orlando Airport, they had a green bag with his name on it...funny thing is, he left Pittsburgh with a brown bag. Even though this new one is much nicer, Dan's not sure if the clothes would fit, so he filed a claim and went home. Later that night, Amy and Jordan gave Dan a warm reception and so did Delta...they found the right luggage and delivered it to the Bolton Bed and Breakfast. Boy, it is great to be home!!!!! July 3, 2001 Back to work for Dan. Amy was also at work, but she left early to take her sister and nieces to the airport. Halee and Chloee both didn't want to leave, but then they realized how much they missed their daddy, so they got on the plane and headed back to Pittsburgh (make sure you know the color of your luggage, they may switch it on you, Lor). July 4, 2001 Happy Fireworks and Birth-of-our-Nation-Day and Birthday to John!!! Today we cleaned and shopped and got ready for the Jacobys (Bob, Sherry, Eric, Becky, Tracey, Bill, Mia, Jake, and the two baby-sitters) to come for our little picnic (they are staying at New Smyrna Beach, about an hour north of us). They showed up about an hour and half late so the cooking and visit was kinda rushed so we could see the fireworks at Cocoa Beach. We did fit in some swimming before we left. July 5, 2001 Today was the first "normal" day in quite a while. Dan went to work, Amy and the kids stayed home and straightened things out at the Bolton Bed and Breakfast for our next guest tomorrow and started planning for our next trip to Pittsburgh at the end of the month. July 6, 2001 Aunt Marie got in late to spend the week at the Bolton Bed and Breakfast. The rest of the day was pretty much a normal Friday...happy that the weekend is here! July 7, 2001 Spent the whole day out by the pool. At night, we went to BJs for some gas and a phone card for Marie (so she can call Cory) and then to the beachwear store (which is conveniently located near the beach) to look for swimwear for Marie and floats for the pool. July 8, 2001 The Jacobys checked out of their condo today, so they came down to our house to spend the day swimming in the pool and eating the food they brought with them...Eric, Becky, Tracey and Jake spent the night at the Bed and Breakfast while the rest went to the Swiss Inn right down the road (a tennis community, but they, unfortunately, forgot their racquets). Marie, Eric and Becky got to experience the "adult night swim", which is becoming a regular with our guests. July 9, 2001 The Jacobys left today, but their last day in Florida will not be a memorable one...it rained pretty much all day, so they were stuck inside. Coral and Mia had fun chasing the babysitter around and playing, but everyone else spent the day packing, except Marie...she will be here all week. Dan and Amy had to work, so they don't have much to add to the diary. July 10, 2001 Jordan was a little cranky today, we are hoping that this is just more teeth. Marie left today to go visit Roz in St. Augustine. In the evening, we enjoyed our first night alone in a while...Dan watched the All-Star Game...Cal Ripken and Tony Gwynn are two of Dan's favorites, so it was very cool (you would know what that means, if you watched also)...Amy read her book. July 11, 2001 Amy and Dan worked and Coral and Jordan daycared. Not much else happening. July 12, 2001 Dan and Amy got up early to watch the shuttle blast off from KSC at 5:04 AM...we even got some video of it. Dan then went to work and Amy slept for a little longer before starting her day of food shopping and doctor's appointments. Marie returned back to the Bolton Bed and Breakfast and she and Coral did some swimming before and after dinner. July 13, 2001 After work, we all went to El Chico's for dinner...they have good Tex Mex. After that, we went to the Cocoa Beach for the evening. July 14, 2001 In the morning, Dan cut the grass and Amy cleaned the pool, while Marie soaked up the last bit of Florida sun for a while. Later, we all went for a trip to Orlando...we ate at Cooker's (which was like Max and Erma's or Hulahan's) and saw some sights around O-town. We also wanted to find out where Amy's training would be on Wed., Thurs., and Fri., so we drove by there. Then we took Aunt Re Re to the airport, which was a big mess because of delays everywhere! Dan is getting sick of airports! July 15, 2001 Church and Wal-Mart for Coral and Dan and then a relaxing cloudy day inside watching TV. Dan and Amy even watched some "Pittsburgh History Series" videos (The Strip Show and Down Town), which made them home sick for the Strip District and all the good food! July 16, 2001 Very normal day at the Bed and Breakfast...Amy, Jordan, and Coral swam, played, and shopped, while Dan was at work. July 17, 2001 Same as yesterday...pretty normal day. Dan added a new part to the site...Top Ten Lists. If you would like to request a list you want to see, email Dan (RE: List). July 18, 2001 Amy spent the day in Orlando for File Maker Pro training. She also got to see her promised land...The Florida Mall! She looked so cute when she came home with her little Guess bag! July 19, 2001 Another day of learning for Amy...some about File Maker Pro and mostly about the Florida Mall...she got to see the other side of her Mecca today. Dan added more pictures to the site! July 20, 2001 Amy was kind of sad because her training finished today and she doesn't get to go to the Florida Mall for her breaks any more. We rented "Cast Away", which was pretty good. Amy DID NOT fall asleep during it, but she gave it only two "long winks". July 21, 2001 Today, Amy got her hair cut and did some shopping. After she got back, Shannah came over with Sierra to play with Amy and Coral. They did very little swimming (in case you didn't know, it has been raining and cloudy weather for the past 3 weeks...sunshine state, my butt!) and playing. Chuck also came over with his guitars to play some songs (jamming). Later that night, Amy cut Dan's hair, now we are all ready for the wedding next week. July 22, 2001 We went to visit Melissa and her new baby, Julia...she was very cute. After we got back, we fixed a few things that needed fixin' before we leave, did some laundry, and did some packing. At night, we watched the Rugrats "All Growed Up" at Coral's request. July 23, 2001 Today we got some great news! Dan and Amy will be taking a little trip to New Orleans...that's right "The Big Easy"! With a little help (thanks Sandy), we will be going there in September...Dan has some training, so Amy will just go with him to have some fun. July 24, 2001 After a long day of work for Dan and a half day for Amy, Coral and Jordan, we dropped Zoey off at the Kennel and were on our way to the airport...the flight was great...Jordan was as good as can be expected, maybe better and Coral loves to fly until we get up in the air (the "Are we there yet"s start)...boom, in two hours we were in Pittsburgh for our vacation! Marie picked us up at the airport...we stopped by the Linwood hood and then up to the Manions for some well deserved sleep. The trip was much better than a 14 hour drive! July 25, 2001 Today was the open house at Dan's parents' house...we got there just before noon and got to see a lot of people, but boy, was it humid! We don't even get this kind of weather in Florida! Thanks to all that came to visit...it was nice to see you again! July 26, 2001 Dan, Tim, Dan's Dad (Mean Gene) and some of Gene's friends went golfing and Amy went with Lori and Marci (Amy's old co-workers) went to lunch. That night, Dan, Amy, Tim, Marcy, Brian, Joelle, Denis, Christine, John, and Suzie all went to the Pirate game. PNC Park was gorgeous and it was great to catch up with all of our friends, although we didn't watch much of the game. After the game, we had some more fun at Sneakers. July 27, 2001 Dan and Amy got up and packed and got ready for the weekend in the morning. Tim and Marcy picked them up at about 11 AM and then we got the Fazios for our trip to Williamsport/Lewisburg. It took about 4 hours to get there...we freshened-up and then went to the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner in Lewisburg. The food was great and we had a great time, besides one flat tire. After the dinner, we drove back to Williamsport and went to the bar downstairs in the hotel, Legends. July 28, 2001 Neal and Jill's big day...it started at 7 AM for Dan and didn't stop until 1 AM...WOW what a long day, we certainly got our money's worth out of the tuxes! The wedding was at 11 AM, the groomsmen, which included such stars as Dan, Eric, Dave, TJ, Cool Friend Jim, Bill, Knobby, KT and Marc, had to be at the chapel (which was a half an hour away from where we stayed) at 9 AM. After the wedding, which was beautiful, we got pictures, then we met up with the guests for the first reception. After that, we drove around the Bucknell campus and points unknown, and got more pictures (probably about 1,000 pictures were taken throughout the whole night). After a very short rest in the hospitality room, the second reception started about 5:45. Eric's best man speech was funny and he did a great job, even though everyone thought he would say something that would make one of the grandmas want to leave after throwing her drink in his face...Dan was just sad that he had to hand in his key...Elvis even made an appearance. Dancing is always a treat at the South Linwood weddings...Dan and Liz (Beast) did a number that reminded people that Broadway was not that far away. The night lasted until 12:30 AM and then we went to Legends for a night cap, then bedtime. The weirdest thing that happened the whole night, Dan never changed out of his tux?!?! July 29, 2001 We all got up and had brunch and drove back to Pittsburgh. This was very lazy day...isn't that what God intended for Sundays? Well we did a good job of it on this Sunday. July 30, 2001 Amy had all of her friends come over with their kids (9 kids at a time...kinda loud). Dan tried to escape the madness and played 9 holes of golf with Tim, Dave, and Eric. Later that night, Dan and Amy went to see "Planet of the Apes". Once again Amy did not fall asleep, but this movie did not receive as high a rating...instead, it gets 1 1/2 "long winks". July 31, 2001 Our trip slowed down a little when we went to a much quieter South Linwood to say good-bye to the Pittsburgh Remberts. Coral was not feeling well and we took a walk around the old neighborhood and even saw the original home of Amy and Dan on Grandview. We did our good-byes and then we did some more in Amy's old neck-of-the-woods. We had some Birthday wishes and some other wishes and then it was time to pack. |
