Most of the day was spent traveling from Pittsburgh back home to Florida...we got back at about 2 PM after leaving at 8 AM.  The house was in good shape, other than needing a good grass cut because of all the rain we got while we were away.
Zoey and the Florida Remberts are very happy to be home!!!

August 2, 2001
We got back to normal life today.  The only thing that is not good is the weather...it hasn't stopped raining since we got home and I may never get to cut the grass.  After dinner, Amy helped Coral's teacher move into the new classroom in the newly built school, while Dan watched the kids and got them ready for bedtime.

August 3, 2001
After work, Amy got a pizza and then we rented "Proof of Life", which got 2 "long winks" from Amy and Dan didn't quit like it as much but thought it was pretty good.  Another thing about the movie, Amy did NOT fall asleep again...she keeps this up and she will lose her reputation.

August 4, 2001
We all got up early and got straight to work on the yard!  Dan and Amy cleaned out the jungle in the back yard all the rain for the past 3 or 4 weeks has caused.  After we got done, we went over to John's house (which is beautiful and close to work, so Amy and Dan are both jealous) for Tuffer's (John's son, his real name is Christopher) 5th Birthday.

August 5, 2001
We did more of the same thing today...we got up early and did the front yard, which was also pretty bad.  After we finished, we took a long needed trip to BJs for bulk food.  When we got back, we hung out on the back porch and listened to the rain (yes, more rain) and Amy and Coral even did some cleaning, which was also badly needed.

August 6, 2001
On what would normally be a boring day, something very magical happened...
Monday Night Football started this night!!!!!  Other than that, not much to report.

August 7, 2001
The sun was actually out today, so we all got to take a swim in the pool for the first time in a LONG TIME!  Amy got back to her normal schedule (Mon, Wed, 1/2 day on Fri), so she was home.

August 8, 2001
Another gorgeous day, but, as usual, work got in the way of having a good time, so we had to wait until we got home to go swimming...Dan was the only one that took advantage.

August 9, 2001
Today is the day we found out Amy is pregnant with our third child, but we told no one!
Dan went to the dentist for the first time in over 5 years...it wasn't pleasant, but it could have been much worse.  The cleaning took a while, but he will have to go back for some fillings, oh well.  Amy, Coral and Jordan went over Helen's for Playgroup, it was hot, so they had to swim in a kiddie-pool.  The Launch was scrubbed because of weather and should go off tomorrow.

August 10, 2001
After work, we watched the Discovery Launch (STS-105) from the front yard.  Dan, Jordan and Coral then took a quick dip in the pool while Amy got pizza.  Later, Amy helped Coral's teacher move the rest of her stuff to the new school.

August 11, 2001
Amy and Coral went to swimming lessons (for Coral, Amy is a pretty good swimmer), while Dan and Jordan played.  The rest of the day, Amy cleaned and Dan sat on his @ss...it was a lazy day for Dan.  Later on, Dan went to church while Amy, Coral and Jordan went to Coral's friend's (Lindsey) birthday party at McDonald's.

August 12, 2001
Dan was not lazy today...he got right to work on cutting the grass, both front and back, while Amy cleaned the house some more.  Then, after lunch, they both cleaned the back porch.  Then we all took a well-deserved swim.  Dan cleaned the pool while we were swimming.

August 13, 2001
After work, we did some final touches on our cleaning (Dan did the pool and Amy did the house) before our guests come tomorrow.

August 14, 2001
Coral got 3 shots today for her 5 year check-up and then her, Jordan and Amy went to orientation for school.  They got to see Coral's new room completely full of stuff (which Amy helped a lot to get the toys moved and Jordan loved playing with them and didn't want to leave).  At around 3 pm, Criss and Tom (our guests) made it to the Bolton Bed and Breakfast from the Tampa area.  After Dan got home from work, we all went to Steak -N- Shake for dinner then we went out to the beach and we showed them around the area.

August 15, 2001
Criss and Tom spent the day the same place Dan and Amy did...Kennedy Space Center.  They went on the tour and had a great time.  They enjoyed the whole tour, but were really impressed with the Astronaut Experience and got to meet and get an autograph from the featured Astronaut, Story Musgrave, who was one of the major players in fixing the Hubble Telescope.  After everyone got home, Dan made the house specialty, Chicken on the grill for everyone.

August 16, 2001
Amy had a dentist appointment today, so Dan stayed home with Jordan, while Coral was at school.  Apparently, Amy's former dentist (who is the best dentist ever, according to Amy) was not doing everything he should have and it showed up in this visit and will be fixed in more visits to come.  Criss and Tom left later in the day to go to the Florida Mall before they caught their plane.  Jordan was supposed to have a doctor's appointment also, but they would have been late for Coral's first day of gymnastics (which was a huge hit!), so they skipped the doctor's.

August 17, 2001
After work, Shannah came over to visit and have a few Margaritas with Dan and Amy.  After Shannah left and the kids were in bed, Dan and Amy watched "15 Minutes", which was OK, but had its bad points.  Amy gives it 3 "long winks" and that is a conservative estimate.  More news from the tooth front, Jordan is about ready to change from a kid with two teeth to a kid with six or seven teeth...so far, at least one has broke thru.

August 18, 2001
Today started with Amy and Coral going to swimming class and Jordan and Dan hanging out.  Once Amy and Coral got back from class, Dan cleaned the pool all day long while Coral, Jordan and Amy swam.  In the evening, we all went to Cocoa Village (an area like Shady Side, just not quite as big, for all you Pittsburghers out there) for a car show/street festival called "Hot August Nites".  We had fun until it started to rain, so we came home.

August 19, 2001
Dan and Coral did that church thing and the older lady sitting next to us whispered in Coral's ear something...after church, Coral said that she said "You are a very special little girl".  Things like that make parenting all worth the trouble!  After church, we ate lunch and went swimming all afternoon.  It was nice to have a hot, sunny weekend to enjoy the pool.

August 20, 2001
Back to the grind today.  Still nice to see football in Monday nights.
Amy cut Dan's hair after the kids went to bed.

August 21, 2001
Amy worked today to get some database stuff done, so after work, Shannah came over for dinner.  We made chicken on the grill (but not the house specialty this time...it was marinated from BJ's) and then just hung out for a while.

August 22, 2001
While Dan and Amy were at work, the Orbiter (the part of the shuttle that comes back), Discovery, landed at KSC (Amy saw it, Dan didn't).  Then after work, we all went to McDonalds for dinner and then to Wal-Mart for a few things.  When we got back, Amy left to got see "America's Sweethearts" with Mary and some of her friends, while Dan played with the kids and then got them to bed.  The review was "just OK"...3 "long winks" from Amy.

August 23, 2001
Dan added a new section to the site...the Florida Remberts' Family Tree...so come and see!  Jordan had a doctor's appointment and got a shot, so she had a bad day.  Speaking of bad days, Zoey has been causing some problems in the neighborhood (too much barking), so now she will be living inside much more so that the police stop visiting.  After work, Dan, Shannah and Becky worked on their Osprey Chili (White Chili) for the Chili Cook-off at work...don't worry, we will win.  While they were working on that, Amy and Coral went to gymnastics class!

August 24, 2001
Dan, Shannah and Becky entered their Osprey Chili into the Chili Cook-off at work.  For first-time chili cooks, we did pretty good...4th place out of 24 entries.  The only weakness we had for the competition was it wasn't as hot (spicy hot) as some of the other entries, but still very good white chili!  After work, Dan and Coral did a little swimming, then we had dinner.  Once the kids were in bed, Dan and Amy watched "Hannibal"...if you liked the first movie, "Silence of the Lambs", like we did, for its "psychological thriller" genre, then you won't like this one!  Anthony Hopkins was good, but bring back the original Clarice.  GORY is the only way to discribe this movie.  Even though you couldn't fall asleep during this movie for fear that you would have nightmares...
Amy gives it 3 "long winks".

August 25, 2001
Dan fixed the noise that the kitchen sink was making while Coral and Amy where at swim class.  After they got back, we all got to work...Amy cleaned the back porch and did some yard work, while Dan cut the grass (front and back) and then Amy helped by cleaning up the grass clippings.  All in all, it was a long day in the sun.

August 26, 2001
Dan and Coral did the church thing again and Amy did some more cleaning and weeding in the back.  Then we all had lunch...Jordan has been using her two new teeth more.  Amy, Coral, and Jordan did some swimming after lunch while Dan played guitar with Chuck...we learned two new songs.  Jordan went under the water for the first time and loved it...she was having a blast!

August 27, 2001
Amy found out today that she will be working 29 hours/week (vs the 20 hours she was working).  She also found out that she HAS to work 29, even if they don't need her to because it was so hard to get Bionetics to give her the hours, but she will need the hours, she has plenty of work to do!  This means that she will be working all day Fridays and half a day Tuesdays.  Dan started his Fantasy Football draft...that means football season is right around the bend...woo hoo!!!!!!

August 28, 2001
Amy started her Tuesday-half-a-day-of-work thing today.  Dan finished his Fantasy Football draft...his team looks great, but he thinks that every year!  After work, we all went out to eat at Long John Silver's and to Wal-Mart to get stuff for Coral's 5th B-Day on Saturday (party favors and such).  The party will be held at Micky-D's.

August 29, 2001
After work, school and daycare, Dan picked up the kids and they played all night while Amy was out for dinner at the Italian Courtyard with Mary (her boss at Rehab Works)...she said that it was a very nice place and good food...add it to the places to dine list.  After dinner, they went to Mary's condo for a Mary Kay party...sorry Lyn, you are too far away.

August 30, 2001
Dan spent the day on a boat in the Mosquito Lagoon for work.  He helped the Aquatics Group with their Sea Turtle Survey.  It was cool, we caught and tagged two Green Sea Turtles and caught and released about 5 Sting Rays...one of the Sting Rays was about a meter long in wing-span (that is about 1 yard)...it was huge!  We also saw some Manatee and Dolphin in the waters.  It was a very hot, long, hard day, but worth it if it helps the Sea Turtles.  Speaking of long and hard times, Amy had to take Jordan with Coral and her to her hair appointment and to Coral's Gymnastics because Dan was a little late getting home from work...sorry.

August 31, 2001
Amy worked the whole day today, but then after work, school and daycare, we rented some movies..."Remember the Titians" for Dan and Amy and "Tweety's High Flying Adventure" for Coral.  Amy gives our movie Zero "long winks" and Coral gives her movie a "Good".
