| Here is what is going on with the Florida Remberts |
| May 1, 2001 Today the Pittsburgh Remberts went on a trip to St. Augustine's via A1A. They saw the East Coast of Florida from the windshield of their rental. Amy and the kids are getting ready for the big first Birthday Party coming up on Saturday...and Dan is very busy at work with an Environmental Functional Review of the Environmental Program at KSC. May 2, 2001 Pap and Gramma went on the Sterling Cruise Line (the gambling boat) and had a great time! They went on the afternoon cruise and said the there is basically no difference between the night and day cruise, they are both fun and give you the same amount of money, well unless you are my Mom, then they just take away money. Amy and Gramma went to the movies with Helen and some others to see "Town and Country". Amy said that this was a bad movie...in fact, her exact words were "DUMB!". While those two were out having fun, Dan and Pap were getting disappointed by the Penguins, who looked terrible! Now that series is all tied up 2-2 and is going back to Buffalo...Not looking good for the Pens. May 3, 2001 Today was Survivor Day at the Florida Remberts! Amy spent most of the day cleaning for the party while Gramma and Pap watched the kids and Dan was at work continuing the Environmental Functional Review. The night was spent watching the "Survivor" Finale...all 3 hours of it!!!! May 4, 2001 Happy 1st Birthday to Jordan!!! Sandy got in late last night, so both sets of Remberts and Sandy went to Sonny's Bar-B-Q to celebrate Jordan's B-day, she requested Bar-B-Q...we had fun! We then cleaned some more for the party. May 5, 2001 Party Day...Dan finished putting up the swing set...the ladies got the house and food ready...Gene did some general clean-up. The party started at 2 pm...Melissa was the first to show...next was Helen, Rick, Jordan, and Anthony...then John, Krista, Tuffer, and Erin...and then Denise, Danielle, Jessica, and Joey and even later Fernando. The swing set went over well...Coral and Jordan (not the birthday girl) went swimming...margaritas flowed like wine, as did the beer...opened presents...had cake (and ate it too). The party was a success! Everyone had lots of fun! May 6, 2001 This was truly a day of rest...we all did nothing but play cards, swim, sit out by the pool and relax (well, I guess we did do some cleaning up). May 7, 2001 While Dan and Amy were at work and Coral and Jordan were at Daycare and Pap was doing some "chores", Judy and Sandy rented a car from Enterprise and had an eventful trip...they went to the hotel that Sandy and John usually stay at for breakfast and came back out to find out that the car would not start...after finding out how to finally get it to start, they realized that one of the hubcaps was missing...then they decided to go to Melbourne to do some shopping and on the way looked for a replacement hubcap on the side of the road, but couldn't find one. The whole reason they took the trip was to go shopping, but they came home with just one bag each and a lot of stories of their travels. After telling the stories, they were soon renamed the "Giggle Girls". Later that night, we celebrated the end of the visit with a pizza party and then watched "202 Dalmatians", which Coral requested and we all enjoyed. May 8, 2001 Our guests left today and life returns to normal for a while until our next guests on June 9th. We had a great two weeks with our last guests and thank you for all your help! Later on, we met at Grills for a going away dinner for Nina (the RehabWork intern). Dan left with the girls and Amy stayed a little later. And, the Pens won in overtime! May 9, 2001 Jordan is doing a lot of walking with her activity walker, maybe she will be ready for the real thing soon. Coral still loves her swing set, all her free time is spent out there having fun! Dan and Amy are doing good, too! May 10, 2001 The Pens won in overtime 3-2 and now they move on to the Eastern Conference Finals! Dan and Amy were thinking about what was happening one year ago and how we were packing and getting final arrangements made...WOW, it has almost been one year in Florida! May 11, 2001 Coral's class had a field trip to the beach today and she brought home some sea shells for Mommy and Daddy. Jordan took her first steps today also...she is only taking a few at a time and then she falls on her bummy...but you have to take a few before you can take a bunch, so we are very proud! Dan finished the Environmental Functional Review, so work can finally get back to normal. Amy and Dan rented "The Mummy" because it reminded them of Rich in his bandages, just kidding...the special effects were good, the story was pretty good, and Amy even stayed up for most of the movie...we give the movie 1 1/2 "long winks" out of 5 (this is a new grading system based on how many "long winks" Amy has during a movie, so in this system, less is more...meaning if a moving gets 0 "long winks", it was an excellent movie). May 12, 2001 Happy 24th Aunt Re Re!!!!! Today was Mother's Day part I...Amy got to go to her eye doctor, shopping and then get her hair cut and highlighted (and it looks great!), all without her family, boy, what a present! Speaking of presents, Dan, Coral, and Jordan did some shopping of their own...we got Mommy her Mother's Day gifts and Dan got new, much needed sneakers. After Lunch, Dan cleaned the pool and then Dan and Coral took a quick swim and Amy joined them after she got home at about 4. By the way, it was a gorgeous day! (The first in a little while...) May 13, 2001 Happy Mommy's Day!!!! Dan has been in Florida for 1 full year!!! Dan took complete control of the kids, cooked and cleaned while Amy got to sleep in and enjoy the beautiful day by the pool and in the pool...and even got sunburned. May 14, 2001 Not much happened today, just work, daycare, and pre-school...Dan changed the format of the Family Pictures and will be adding many more...check them out! May 15, 2001 Happy B-Day Zoey!!! WOW...what a busy day!...It started when Dan got to work and Amy got a big cookie for him for his 1st anniversary of work at KSC (wasn't that nice!). Jordan went for her 1 year check-up and they seem to think that she is too small for her age, so they told Amy to start feeding her everything in the refrigerator...candy, sweets, pudding, just about anything she will eat...that sounds like what the dietician told Dan. And, oh yeah, she got 3 shots, so she was not a happy camper! While they were at the doctors, Coral got checked and we found out that she has a double ear infection...just what we need. Then midway through the day, we got some GREAT news...we found out that Mommy Rembert (Judy) is doing good after her surgery and everything they took out was not cancerous. Click here to see how her recovery is going...and wish her a "get well soon". Then after Dan got home from work, we went to BJ's to get some new glasses for Amy. After this long and stressful day, we all went to bed to heal and get plenty of rest. May 16, 2001 Today was Coral's big day...well, really it was her evening...she had her pre-school graduation (actually, she will be taking another year of pre-school, but bare with me here). She and the other 4 year olds sang the classes favorite songs, looked cute, and had a lot of great words said about them...and then there was a reception back in her room with cookies, which Jordan liked, and punch. It was a very nice evening and congratulations go out to Mrs. Millhouse's class and especially Coral!!!!!! May 17, 2001 After Dan got home from work, Amy got her hair cut again (Dan thought it looked fine before, but Amy wasn't quite happy with it)...now it is really short and looks great! May 18, 2001 Dan and Coral did some swimming after work...it was quite refreshing to jump in the water, after a long day. May 19, 2001 Today was the LSSC (Life Science Support Contract) Family Picnic. This is the contract that both Dan and Amy work for at KSC. They had Sonny's B-B-Q for lunch...a horseshoe contest...beer...and other fun stuff to do. It was kinda small, but we are a small contract. After the picnic, Shannah and David, our friends, came over and we did some more swimming...it looks like the hot weather is here to stay, so you will be seeing a LOT of these kinds of entries. May 20, 2001 Dan and Coral went to church and then Dan washed the cars. After that, Dan cleaned out the garage while Amy did the windows of the cars. After a fast dip in the pool, we all went to BJ's to get Amy's new glasses (they are cool looking, you will not be able to recognize her with her new glasses and hair cut), some food, and gas...it was a very productive trip to BJ's. Because we worked up such an appetite, we treated ourselves to dinner at Chili's (Amy's favorite place to dine). Then we went out to the beach for an evening search for seashells by the seashore. May 21, 2001 Jordan is now sick, so Dan stayed home from work to take care of her. She does OK when she is on Children's Motrin, but she is not supposed to go to the babysitter's if she has a fever, so we relaxed all day. May 22, 2001 15 years ago today, Dan and Amy went on their first date! Jordan continued her sickness...Dan continued to put up more pictures on the web site. We wish Rich good luck and God bless on his 2nd surgery tomorrow! We won't mention how the Pens did tonight, but the best team in the east got to go to the finals. May 23, 2001 Jordan still had a fever, so Dan stayed home from work in the morning and took her to the doctors and they did a strep test and it came back negative. They said that if the fever persisted until Friday, they would do some tests for mono. So I guess this means that she has been out kissing boys already...boy, they do grow up fast. After Amy was done with her CPR training at work, she took the afternoon shift and Dan went to work. After work, Dan went to Orlando to meet one of the guys he plays Fantasy Football with over the internet for dinner. His name is Eddie and he is from Seattle. It was cool to meet someone you have talked to alot for the past 2 years. Now Dan only has to meet the other 10 guys in the league. May 24, 2001 Amy and Coral did some swimming and playing around the house while Jordan slept and Dan was at work. Jordan is getting a little better, but still sleeping all the time and when she is up she is quiet, a little cranky, and just wants to sit in our laps...it will just take time to work its way through her body. On the way home from work, Dan picked up a pizza for dinner. Then after we ate, Dan packed for his annual Indy trip and Amy and Coral went shopping for Coral's teachers' presents for a wonderful job this year...tomorrow is Coral's last day at school and, yes you guessed it, Jordan slept some more. After Coral and Jordan went to bed for the night (Jordan was up enough to drink some bottle and then back to bed), Amy cut Dan's hair. As for Rich, he is doing good...the doctors did a good job at cutting him open...what should have taken 12 hours only took 8 1/2 and the doctors are very optimistic that they removed all of the cancerous lymph nodes. They also don't think that they will need to do radiation, but they won't know for sure for a while. May 25, 2001 Amy and Dan did another day of split shift work...Dan went to work and Amy stayed home with Jordan and took her to the doctors...Jordan does have an ear infection, but they did not want to test for Mono because, after they tested her by taking blood, and if she did end up having it, there is still nothing that can be done to treat it. So after the trip to the doctors, Dan got Coral from school and stayed home with them and Amy went to work. Once Amy got home from work, we all went to the airport (in a driving rain) to drop Dan off for his Indy trip at about 9:30 pm. Amy and the kids went home to sleep, and the weekend just got started for Dan...he got into Indy at about midnight (11 Indy-time) and took a cab to Speedway were he met Tim Marshall. Tim took him to the RV (this is the first year we had sleeping conditions this good) where the rest of the "Indy Guys" were located. (Indy Guys (nicknames on this trip) = Muter (Tim Marshall), Big Steed (Eric Jacoby), Mute (Dave Marshall), Gary and Ace, Bo, Gino, TTT, Dr. Tim, the New Mouse, Neal (Neal Jacoby) and his cool friend, Jim) May 26, 2001 Amy cleaned the house because her Mom and Dad were coming to visit for a week...they got in at about 8 pm and got dinner and went to sleep. And at Indy...After staying up until about 5 am drinking the night before, Dan and the "Indy Guys" went to the track for some pre-race fun and celebrity searching. We got to the Pit Area of the track and we saw and yelled things like "good luck tomorrow!" and "got any passes for us!" to Roger Penske (the team owner of the cars that came in 1st and 2nd place), Gil de Ferran (the guy that came in 2nd), Robby Gordan (Dan's old favorite driver, but because he was very rude to us when we tried to shake his hand, he is no longer), Scott Sharp (the polesitter), Buddy Lazier (a former winner), and Arie Luyendyk (another former winner)...and, for you non-race fans, we even saw Anthony Edwards (Goose from Top Gun, Dr. Green from ER, and in films like Revenge of the Nerds and Fastimes at Ridgemont High) and I think we mentioned all of these movies to him as our favorites as he passed by in a cart. After the fanfare, we had dinner and then our "Walk of Georgetown"...this is much like Marti Gras, where they close off the streets to all of the crazy race fans! We went to bed early this night (3 am) because of the big day that followed. May 27, 2001 Race Day @ Indy!...We got up and went to the race! We got good seats and what a great race...the CART drivers (the original and better drivers that were kicked out of the race in 1996) are starting to come back with a vengeance! They took the top 5 spots in the race. Click here to read more. After the race, we came back, played cards, and had another early night. Back at the ranch, they had a beautiful day of swimming! Coral learned some new tricks in the pool...she can now go down the slide and swim to the ladder and she can do flips under water, all without wearing her swimmies! Jordan took a long, long nap and seems to be much better now! May 28, 2001 Nothing going on! May 29, 2001 A pretty normal day with the Florida Remberts...Amy worked today because yesterday was a holiday, and then later, she went to the eye doctor and found out that she should continue to wear her new glasses more often. Dan got some electric shock treatment at Rehab Works on his back and now it feels sooooo much better! May 30, 2001 Another normal day...our guests moved out, they would rather stay at the beach (can you blame them)...work and daycare. And some GREAT Rich news! May 31, 2001 There was some excitement at the Bolton Bed and Breakfast today...a Ringneck Snake in the pool taking a swim, which he didn't want to be doing...he was soon rescued by John and sent on his way. After Dan got home from work, we all went out for dinner at Carrabba's and Mary (Amy's supervisor at RehabWorks) even joined us...boy, the food is good there! |
