| February 1, 2006
The taxes are close to completed, the house is prepared for our February guests, Judy and Gene, and the TV is warmed up with all the pre-game Super Bowl hype getting broadcasted on every channel being watchedSunday cant get here fast enough! February 2, 2006 Happy Groundhogs Day and Happy Birthday to Matty!!! By now, we are tired of hearing about the Super Bowl and are ready to watch the Super Bowl and get one for the thumb!!! We also concluded the final preparations for our visitors. February 3, 2006 Our guests, Judy and Gene (aka, Mom/Dad or Gramma/Pap), arrived this afternoon to a rainy Florida. After gymnastics, we all sat down and visited. February 4, 2006 Amy got her hair colored and cut this morning while Dan cooked up a big breakfast. Another rainy day forced us indoors for most of the day. Amy took Coral, Jordan, and Ian to Curtiss birthday during the afternoon and then we hosted all the kids from the neighborhood to a showing of Armageddon. Dan continued with his chef-ways by cooking a spaghetti dinner. February 5, 2006 The Pittsburgh Steelers are winners of Super Bowl XL and World Champions!!! February 6, 2006 We parted ways with our guests as they went to Vero Beach to visit with their friends for a couple days. Ian's class had a field trip to the zoo, which he was very excited about and told us all about the animals. Speaking of excitement, today Dan and Amy went to work and gloated to all the nonbelievers and fans of non-championship teams!!! February 7, 2006 After work, school, and daycare, Amy decided to take the kids shopping for new shoes, Valentines Day cards, and various other necessities, while Dan stayed home to complete the wash. February 8, 2006 The garage door finally was fixed today, so the days of getting out of the vehicles to open the doors are gone for a while at leastman, are we a lazy society. February 9, 2006 After work, school, and daycare, the madness begun...Coral's first softball practice was this evening and Amy and Gramma took her to the kick-off meeting. February 10, 2006 While Dan and Ian were at gymnastics, Coral, Jordan and Amy were at the Love Bug Bash at Gardendale and celebrated an early Valentines Day. While Coral and Jordan were off having fun and playing games, Amy was charged with the duty of serving up Cotton Candy and came home wearing most of the product. February 11, 2006 Dan constructed the new storage shelf for some misplaced video tapes and such. After that was completed, we all went to the Shaffers for an afternoon visit before the front cooled things down. Later, we picked Gramma and Pap up and went to Fishlips at the Port for some yummy dinner. To put a nice end to the day, Amy and Dan watched Cinderella Man. We both enjoyed this inspiring tale of triumph over the Great DepressionAmy gives it 1 1/2 long winks. February 12, 2006 Dan took Jordan and Coral to church and CCD and accomplished the weeks grocery shopping. Soon after we got back, the kids were swept off to the movie theater with Amy and Judy to see Nanny McPhee. The kids loved the story and both the adults seemed to enjoy it tooAmy gives it 2 1/2 long winks. Later we got pizza and watched the Pro Bowl, the final game of the awesome 2005 Football Seasonall good things must come to an end. February 13, 2006 The big news here is Florida is the cold weatherfrost warnings abound. Dan and Amy watched the next borrowed movie Bad News Bears (2005)they should have just left the original alone! Amy did not enjoy this film at all and gives it 4 1/2 long winks. February 14, 2006 Happy Valentines Day!!! To start off the day, Dan backed out of the garage to find something slowing him downit was a flat tire that must have been slow-leaked through the night. Luckily, it was able to be patched and Dan got to work. Later, Amy took Coral to softball practice and Judy and Gene came for a holiday visit bearing gifts. After the gift exchange, we all sat down to watch one of the gifts in actiona DVD of The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D. February 15, 2006 After a week at the beach, Judy (Gramma) and Gene (Pap) joined us again and we were welcomed with the glorious aroma of a home-cooked meal as we arrived from work/daycare. February 16, 2006 Dan packed for his trip while Amy took Coral to a late evening practice. This was the first batting practice of the year and Coral did a great job of smacking the ball around. February 17, 2006 On their way to Naples to visit some fiends on the west coast of Florida, Judy and Gene dropped Dan off at the airport for his trip to Vegas with the Indy Guys from Pittsburgh. With Dan being absent, Amy was in charge of getting the kids to gymnastics, but she was also in charge of helping the Shaffers out while Jackson was in the hospital with respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). February 18, 2006 Dan was in Vegas while Amy, Coral, Jordan, Ian, and Lauren went to Ron Jons and met up with John, Jessie, and Erin at the Shaffer's condo and then back to the Shaffer house for playing, dinner, and movie to help with the kids so Krista and John could continue to care for Jackson. February 19, 2006 Dan missed a couple long-shots in the Daytona 500 that would have helped build his bank-roll that he got for turning in his winning bet on the Steelers to win the Super Bowl that he placed back in June. Amy and the kids continued their fun times by going to the movies to see Eight Below. February 20, 2006 Amy took the kids to Orlando to the Build-a-Bear Workshop for the day. Dan spent the day in airports while he traveled back from Vegasmake sure to read all about the fun times in the latest addition of the Vegas Diaries. February 21, 2006 Before it was back to work, Dan and Amy were joined by Gramma, Pap, and Coral at Jordans first Silver Dollar Award Ceremony. She was completely surprised by this big NEWS and excited about the award for the two lifeskills of Friendship and Sense of Humor, which fits Jordan perfectly. February 22, 2006 To celebrate Jordans Silver Dollar, we joined Judy and Gene at Ron Jons Grill for a congratulatory meal and visited the room to see what is in store for us come June. In other good news, Jackson was finally discharged from the hospital today. February 23, 2006 After work, school, and daycare, Coral practiced softball and her coach noted that Coral is one of the best all-around players on the team this yearthis is always good news to hear. Amy dropped her off at practice, Gramma and Pap watched the practice, and returned her home while Amy shopped for Ians birthday party. February 24, 2006 Today was the last day before the big FCAT tests next week, so Gardendale celebrated the freedom and invited their students to wear their PJs to schoolboth Jordan and Coral participated in the activities even though only Coral will be taking the standardized aptitude tests. Later, the kids went to gymnastics and Judy and Gene were welcomed back. February 25, 2006 Today was the day of Ians 4th Birthday Party! Amy and Judy left early to prepare and save the picnic area at Rotary Park and Dan, Gene, Coral, Jordan, and the birthday boy, Ian came later. Other than the winds and a quick shot of rain, the party was a complete success. Ian was happy and the kids played games and a fun time was had by all. February 26, 2006 Dan took Jordan and Coral to church and CCD and shopped for food in the morning. The rest of the day was reserved to watch movies and relax for the most part. February 27, 2006 After work, school and daycare, we wished our guests bon voyage with a big home-cooked dinner with the aroma filling the house. February 28, 2006 Merry Mardi-Gras!!! With the last day of February here, Judy and Gene (Mom and Dad or Gramma and Pap) decided to head back home after a long and enjoyable visit here in Florida. Due to the FCAT in progress, Corals team didnt have softball practice to keep the kids fresh. |
