Happy New Year!!!
Penn State looked like crap and lost, so football didn't start with a bang in the new year.  Other than that, it was a beautiful day!  It went up to around 80 and we opened all the windows and played outside most of the day.  For dinner, we had some pulled pork (this is supposed to be good luck)...well the kids and Amy had chicken (which is supposed to be bad luck), so we will see who is right when we go to Vegas in March.

January 2, 2003
Back to work and daycare...pretty boring stuff, so why not update...Ian's got 4 teeth now and loves to eat real food instead of baby food...Jordan is talking and making more and more sense when she says stuff, it just has to be translated sometimes...Coral is very creative, she makes stuff like little boxes or stuffed-paper dolls all the time...Amy is lookin' good (of course, that is mainly Dan's opinion talking there)...
Dan is growing a playoff beard for the Steelers.

January 3, 2003
Another uneventful day...just work and daycare and the last day for Christmas lights.

January 4, 2003
Today Dan took down all the Christmas decorations (except the ones outside) and packed them away for next year.  Amy was off getting her hair done all afternoon.  To get out of the house, we all went to Chili's for a little treat and then to Wal-Mart for a few things.

January 5, 2003
Wow, what a game!  Hope all of them aren't going to be like this for this playoff season...the Steelers made an awesome comeback against the Browns to win 36-33.  While watching the game and surviving all the heart-attacks, Dan taught Jordan a choice word or two, but Dan insists that she learned that at daycare.  So, the Steelers move on to face the Titans.  Speaking of baby-steps, Ian took a few crawling steps today too, but we couldn't get him to do any more.  Looks like he will be ready to take over the house soon.

Happy 10 Month Birthday to Ian!!!
Let's also all send out a "Happy 35th Anniversary" to Judy and Gene for without this momentous occation there would be no Dan, no Dan and Amy, no Florida Remberts, and hense no website!  Today was Coral's last day at Sherri's, but she is excited to go back to school.  And finally, Merry "little" Christmas to all of our Orthodox friends out there!

January 7, 2003
The day started off with Amy taking the kids to daycare and school and then it was torture time at the dentist office.  She had to get two temperary crowns put on her back teeth.  Then, after work, she got to get her hair redone.  She wasn't pleased with the highlights she got on Saturday, so she asked to have it done again.  Dan and the kids ate dinner, watched movies, and had tubby time (well only the kids had tubby time) before bed.

January 8, 2003
Dan was a test subject at work for a study to help the astronauts breath in space and on the trip back...he looked like a robot with all the wires coming off his body and almost had to shave his playoff beard, but the mouth piece fit without any leaks.

January 9, 2003
We were supposed to take the car in for service today, but we forgot, so there was not much to talk about other than work, school, and daycare.

January 10, 2003
After work, we picked-up an extra kid to bring home with us.  Our friend, Alice, got put on active duty for one year, so we are going to help when we can by picking her daughter up from school (she goes to Gardendale, also).  We are praying for her and her family.

January 11, 2003
Amy and Coral went to gymnastics and then to get the windows in the Caravan tinted (to all the Pittsburgh people reading this...there is this thing called the sun...).  After that, we watched the Steeler game...not much to say about that, but oh well.

January 12, 2003
Dan and Coral went to church, then took Coral to CCD, then Dan went food shopping, then home.  While we were away, Amy re-arranged Ian's room.  After lunch, Dan and Amy finally finished getting the outside lights down and put away.  Later that night, the start of Vegas week on the Travel Channel got Dan and Amy excited about the trip in March...
any one want to join them?

January 13, 2003
Back to the grind...but after work and school, we stopped and got a cake for daycare because it was Jim and Carol's 39th Anniversary (they are Sherri's mom and dad).  So we had a little celebration with them and some of the other parents that were still there.

January 14, 2003
Happy Birthday to Chloee!
Ian took some big steps today...he started using his walker to get from here to there, so soon he will be running around with his sisters and playing.  Today we took the car in for some service (oil change, etc.) and this was the first time since we've had it that we didn't reach 3,000 miles in 3 months...exciting news isn't it!  Speaking of which, we got some very exciting NEWS about Emma and Parker, so go check it out!

January 15, 2003
Not much to report today, just work, school and daycare.

January 16, 2003
Our babies are growing up so fast...you know all about Ian taking off with his walker and you know about Jordan speaking clearer and in sentences, now it's Coral's turn.  She is starting to read!  She brought home a little story book and read it to Dan and Amy today.  Amy was so excited, she started crying and decided to call the queen of reading, Gramma...needless to say, she was very excited too.  You may be asking, "but what about Dan and Amy, any news on them?".  Yes there is...Dan and Amy saw their first launch at work together.  STS-107 was a beautiful launch on a very clear day.  Dan, Amy, Erik, and the newest Rehab Works Intern, Toni (who is actually from East Liverpool, OH, so she knows all the Pittsburgh lingo and even has a Giant Eagle Advantage Card)
watched from a prime spot near the VAB.

January 17, 2003
After work, Dan and Amy picked up Coral and Kiara (Alice's daughter) from school and then got Ian and Jordan at daycare.  Once at home, we had pizza and movie night.  Kiara ended up staying over the night because her dad, who is also in the reserves,
had to stay at the base all night.

January 18, 2003
Kiara left early to go to softball try-outs and we all went to gymnastics with Coral because we had plans to go to the Shaffer's for the day.  Coral was asked to do team try-outs for East Coast Gymnastics, but she didn't want to, so she just did her regular class.  Ian and Amy left during gymnastics to get Ian's first hair-cut!  After class was over, we stopped at Bryan's Furniture to get a new-to-us, but used-to-others, chest-of-drawers for Coral and Jordan's room.  Then it was on to the Shaffer's for a cook-out and general fun and playtime for the kids.  After we were all worn out from that, we got home and put the kids to bed.  Then it was time for Dan to get his hair-cut.  To finish up a long day, we watched "Signs".  Amy did miss a quick part of the movie to visit la-la land, but thought the movie was good and gave it 1 "long wink".  Dan thought that the movie was a good "suspense" movie and also enjoyed it.

January 19, 2003
Amy and Coral did the typical Sunday-thing of CCD and shopping and the rest of the day was spent moving funiture, cleaning up, and just watching TV and being lazy.  The new furniture arrived just after dinner, so it was kinda late to do much with the rest of the room.  Once the kids were in bed we watched "Meet the Parents" finally.  It was quite humorous, but you had to feel bad for Focker...Amy gave it 2 "long winks".

January 20, 2003
Happy MLK Day!!!
Because everyone had the day off, Dan and Doug did their annual trip on the gambling boat...Dan won 375 cents!  Woo hoo!  Hey, at least he didn't lose.  While Dan was gone, Amy did Coral and Jordan's room and loaded up the new piece of furniture.

January 21, 2003
Well, it was back to the grind today, so not much going on with us to report.

January 22, 2003
Today was Daisy day for Coral, so Dan went to work early.  Amy picked up Coral and her friend, Daisy-Bear, their mascot, who will stay with us until the next meeting.  After they got home, we all went out for dinner at the Italian Courtyard with the Rehab Works staff for Erik's 5th anniversary of work.  We also have some news on the Vegas front...today we changed the hotel we will be staying at to the Flamingo because we heard bad things about Imperial Palace.  Dan, Rich and Matt stayed at the Flamingo last year and it was nice and they sent us an offer we couldn't refuse, so we switched.  There is still plenty of time and room to make plans to meet Dan and Amy in beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada, so don't be shy.

January 23, 2003
We are getting ready for the big freeze here in Florida...temperatures are expected to dip down below freezing for a period longer than 6 hours overnight and may even get down to 23 degrees.  So, we spent a portion of the night covering and recovering the tropical plants.

January 24, 2003
It snowed for the first time in about a billion years here and you could tell the Floridians from the Yankees today!  It wasn't like you could jump outside and make snow-angels, but snow in Florida is snow in Florida and it was funny watching the excitement about these tiny things that could only be seen with a microscope.
Later that night, we had our movie and pizza night.

January 25, 2003
Not much going on today, just gymnastics and then some cleaning up around the house.

January 26, 2003
It was Dan's turn to do the church thing, but then Amy wanted to take over the shopping duties.  After that, we finally got to spend some time on the porch and get some fresh air before our big Super Bowl Party!  It was a pretty one-sided Super Bowl until the Raiders decided to start playing, but it was too late and the Bucs ended up winning.

January 27, 2003
Back to the grind of work, school and daycare.

January 28, 2003
After Dan and Amy dropped Ian and Jordan off at daycare and Coral at school, they took a sneaky little detour...to the GEMS cafetorium (cafeteria/auditorium).  Coral won the Silver Dollar Award for the month of November and today was the ceremony.  They started off by announcing it with the morning GEMS news and then they had all the kids (about 30 of them) go to the cafetorium to receive the awards where us proud parents were located to surprise the kids.  Each student's name was called out by the principal, they were presented with the silver dollar and certificate, and then the parent(s) stood up to state how proud they are of the child and give examples of their progress.  Coral's name was called and Dan and Amy did their part in the ceremony (Amy even cried).  We are very proud of this honor for Coral and we are also happy that the school does this to show the
kids their appreciation of the student's hard work.

January 29, 2003
Not much going on, so it may be time to talk about the good Florida weather finally returning...temperatures are reaching into the 70s again...woo hoo!

January 30, 2003
Dan and some people from work had a baby "shower" (for lack of a better term) lunch for Wayne (a co-worker).  Amy had to leave work early to get her permanent crowns put on...now that is fun!

January 31, 2003
Amy took off work today to stay home with Ian because he got his first cold.  Jordan also stayed home for moral support.  So Dan took Coral to school and went to work.  After school, Coral went over Molly's, a friend from class,
house to play and yell in some one else's ears.
