Happy College Football Day!  (oh yeah, Happy New Year's Day, too)
We played games and watched football and ordered pizza (with pork sausage)...a Rembert tradition, moving to the next generation.  Coral enjoyed playing Monopoly for about 15 minutes and then got bored, but then again she got bored with all the games we played (even chess).

January 2, 2002
Today we all got back to the grind...it was tough, but it had to happen.

January 3, 2002
The big news down here in Florida is the weather...it is expected to get below freezing overnight!  Everyone is busy covering the tropical plants.  We also found out that we will be closing next week on our refinance on our mortgage...woohoo!

January 4, 2002
Work and daycare...  After work and bed for the kids, Dan and Amy watched "Swordfish" on Pay Per View...Dan and Amy both enjoyed the movie, contrary to the bad they had heard.  Amy gives it 1/2 "long winks", but she did not fall asleep once.

January 5, 2002
Marcy and Tim had their baby girl!
We took down all of the Christmas decorations all day and relaxed all night!

January 6, 2002
Happy 34th Anniversary to Judy and Gene (aka, Mom and Dad)!
After church for Dan and Coral, we watched a few football games and then went out to enjoy the 70 degree and sunny weather...we could see on the Steelers highlights it was cold and snowing in Pittsburgh (Ha!).  The Steelers finished the regular season with a win for a 13-3 record...the best in the AFC and the best for the Steelers since '78 (14-2 record and a SuperBowl season).  Later, we watched "Magnolia".  This didn't get such high ratings from Dan and Amy...Dan is a fan of P.T. Anderson ("Boogie Nights") and had the film figured out, but the "frog scene" was too much and the movie took too long (3 hours and 15 minutes) to develop the MANY charaters.  Amy gave it 4 "long winks" and that is a conservative estimate.  The funny thing was, the movie moved so slow, that Amy didn't miss much while she slept through the middle of the movie.

January 7, 2002
Back to work, school and daycare...another cold snap and another frost warning.

January 8, 2002
Dan and Amy closed on the refinance of the mortgage on the Bolton Bed and Breakfast today and got a better rate...woo hoo!  The chilly weather is giving everyone in the house a cold, so this is a good time not to have any visitors.

January 9, 2002
There was frost on the ground when we got up this morning...brrrrrrr.  We are all trying to overcome colds...hopefully soon we will get better and it will warm back up.

January 10, 2002
More of the normal, everyday stuff...Thursdays include, work, school, daycare, laundry, and gymnastics.  At night, it was the big "Survivor 3" finale, so Dan and Amy put the kids to bed before 8 PM to watch the 3-hour marathon.

January 11-13, 2002
We don't usually do a whole weekend report, but this weekend we didn't do much, so here goes:
We slept, ate, and tried to get better from being sick...there was a lot of coughing and runny noses at the Bolton Bed and Breakfast this whole weekend, so we didn't leave the house much and we also didn't do much in the house but watch TV and sleep.  Almost forgot...Coral took gymnastics on Saturday because she has been moved up to the more advanced class, which is on Saturdays...our little Nadia Comaneci or Mary Lou Retton, since she is American.

January 14, 2002
We all stayed home from work, daycare and school to get one more day of rest in to try to get all better.  The first contractor stopped by to get an estimate on putting a new room on the house before our third child gets here...we are not sure if we are going to do this yet.

January 15, 2002
We all battled the colds to get back to work, school and daycare...Coral and Jordan are doing better, but Dan and Amy are still coughing like maniacs with sore throats.  Dan is enjoying watching Vegas week on the Travel Channel and is getting anxious to go back.

January 16, 2002
We are feeling a little better, just got a lot of coughing throughout the house.
The weather is finally cooperating by warming back up to the 70s.

January 17, 2002
Amy had to work today (her normal day-off) because she was off sick on Monday.  We are all getting a little better, but we are still doing a lot of coughing.
Marie got some BIG NEWS...a new job!

January 18, 2002
After work, school and daycare, Amy, Coral and Jordan met Helen and her kids at McDonalds for dinner and chasing the kids around for dessert.  Dan went and got "Jurasic Park III" for Dan and Amy to watch after they got back and the kids went to bed.  Dan and Amy found this one to be more scary than the others but very good...1 "long wink".  Dan agreed and was amazed at the ability of Amy to stay awake for the whole flick with Ian begging her to take a quick nap.

January 19, 2002
We are finally getting back to good Florida weather...sunny and in the 80s, so we spent the day outside.  Dan cleaned the pool and we all picked oranges off the trees.

January 20, 2002
Here we go Steelers...Here we go!!!
The Steelers party was successful, but the game was the GREAT part of it...Steelers clobber the Ravens...27-10!  Next Stop: AFC Championship.

January 21, 2002
Happy MLK Day!!!
Amy got new furniture at work, so instead of having the day off, she went in and will get another day off.  Dan and Doug went on the Sterling Gambling Ship and both won in the cruise...they even tested their newly found skills at Craps and got an A!

January 22, 2002
Back to work, school and daycare...back to the grind.

January 23, 2002
After work, Amy returned one movie and picked-up a new one..."American Pie 2".  Once again, Amy pulled an "all-movier"!  Dan and Amy both loved it as much as the first one and make sure to watch the out takes...Amy gives it 1 "long-wink".

January 24, 2002
Amy had a doctors's appointment today...Ian is really starting to grow good and is doing well.  Jordan and Coral also got their face rashes checked and got some new cream...hopefully this will help, but the doctor seems to think it is spreading because Jordan sucks her fingers.

January 25, 2002
After work and bedtime for the kids, Amy and Dan watched "Blow".  This was a very sad, but true, story about a drug dealer in the 70s and 80s...the movie was done too much like "Goodfellas", but that was fine with Dan...the bad part was the skeptical feeling that you get from watching a story written by the drug dealer himself...the question "Is this really the way it happened?", makes you feel wrong for any empathy that you may have for the drug dealer as his life becomes unraveled by the bad people that he surrounds himself with throughout his life.  Amy, once again with no sleeping on the job, gives it 2 "long winks".

January 26, 2002
Amy spent most of the day sorting through Jordan and Coral's old clothes to see if anything can be kept for Ian.  After Amy was done, Dan put the bags of "girl's clothes" in the crawl space...just in case there was a mistake on the sonogram.  Later that night, Dan and Amy had another "movie night" and watched "Pearl Habor".  If only the Japanese would have missed like this movie did!  All that can be said about this one is...TOO LONG!  Amy gives it 4 "long winks" and she breaks her streak of staying awake for the movies we rent or order on Pay Per View.

January 27, 2002
Black Sunday for the Steelers and their fans.
Amy and Coral did the church thing and then went shopping for what would unknowingly end up being the last Steeler party of the football season.  The Pats outplayed the Steelers and sent them packing for a very disappointing lost in the AFC Championship game...again.  Dan then joined John, Frank and Mike from work to watch the late game.

January 28, 2002
We got back to work, school and daycare, to get our minds off of the sad Steeler game.

January 29, 2002
After Amy's half day of work, we had more trouble with the garage door, so Dan had to fix that when he got home from work.  Other than that excitement, nothing else is going on.

January 30, 2002
Another day of the grind...work, school and daycare.  Coral is getting pretty good at sign language from watching an informational video at school.

January 31, 2002
We finally got our refrigerator fixed so it doesn't leak any more.  To keep with the fixed-it mood, we all went to the giant, new Lowes and got some stuff for the house including a new phone, so now Amy can talk more...Dan is going to try to return it tomorrow.
