Purple Prairie Clover

Dalea purpurea

Purple Prairie Clover seedlings are so delicate in appearance, it's difficult to believe that they can survive in a prairie setting. We included this species in our original planting and have yet to spot one. We grew some plants from seed in 2004, starting them indoors in March and planting them outdoors in late May. So far the tiny plants are proving to be tougher than they appear to be, holding their own against relentless winds and heavy downpours.
