Reviews The Flagburner has received in different zines:

I'm sorry to say, but this is NOT, as you might have thought, reviews FROM the Flagburner - instead it's reviews ON the Flagburner. If you have seen any reviews that are not here, please inform me about them, and I will add them. It would be, otherwise too, nice to know what people think about my zine...

Wanna see the reviews for a special issue? #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #6, #7, #8, Decay #1, Decay #2

Flagburner #1

"A Finnish zine put out by a Swede and written in English... The focus is on political punk, with lots of talk about anarchy and interesting interviews with Charta 77, The Juggling Jugulars, Maniac Miracles and someone who does a web site about flag burning. Also features record and zine reviews, some poetry and a story about heroin. Cool first issue. (AM)" (MRR #174)

"Lipunpolttaja on englanninkielinen suomi-zine joita niitäkin muutama Suomessa ilmestyy. Ihan kohtuullinen ensinumero ja plussaa pitkistä haastatteluista. Yritystä löytyy ja pienellä hienosäädöllä tästä tulee vielä jotain. Englanninkieli toimii." (Statement #2)

Flagburner #2

"This is an entertaining, somewhat anarchist zine from Finland, most of which is given over to competently done, although predictable interviews and reviews. The parts that stood out for me were the little bits of personal/political writing that were stuck in between the various interviews. Nothing too heavy or overbearing, just one persons observations and opinions, presented in a fairly straight forward manner. (JV)" (MRR #177)

Flagburner #3

"Pretty standard format zine here with reviews and interviews taking up most of the space. What was cool about this is that there are interviews with a couple of Finnish punk bands, The Vicious Wankers, Oheisvasara and others you probably won't see anywhere else. There's also interviews with: Anti-Flag and Snap-Her, from the US and an interview with the person that does a zine called Esinahka, a couple of short stories, rants and poetry. The layout is cool and the printing job is tops. If you're interested in Finnish punk give this a go. (RM)" (MRR #182)

Flagburner #4

"A finnish zine written in english which keeps getting better and better. This issue contains interview with Rajoitus, Detestation, Positive Negative, Alakulttuurin kusipäät, Kirous, Bitistål and Virkavalta. Also a bunch of other stuff." (Witchhunt zine #1)

Flagburner #6

"This is a really good zine that focuses on political punk music. There are good interviews with Diaspora, Scumbrigade, Manifesto Jukebox, Bitch and Oi Polloi - all of which are just as much as ideas, politics and points of view as they are about bands. The interviews are well done - the interviewer basically directs or presents his points of view and then asks the band members what their opinions are. Makes for some good reading. An I like that most (except Oi Polloi) of the bands are from Sweden and Finland. There's also writing on feminism and gender roles, anarchism (looking at historical anarchist writers), biotechnology, environmental effects of tobacco and a look at the (war) photographer Robert Capa. A really good zine. (Chris)" (S&L #65) (Actually - those views presented in interviews arre not always mine, but possible aspects on things... /ed)

And now for something completely different, heh:
"There's something about this zine that just doesn't sit well with me. I guess I will never get to a place where I can read men's ideas on sexism and gender politics without cringing. (That sentence was, by the way, the most sexist thing I've read in ages. /Janne) This zine doesn't change my mind. The writer comes off as more than a little arrogant, and not just in the brief political writings, but also in his interviews where he has this terribly annoying habit of inserting his own parenthetical comments in response to what the interviewed person says. But if you're really interested in reading a Finnish zine with interviews with, Oi Polloi, Diaspora, Bitch, and a few other Finnish bands, go nuts. (CR)" (MRR #208)

"Finnish zine in English that mixes cut and paste with computer layout. Lots to read in a small space. Articles on tobacco, anarchism, as well as poetry, reviews and Diaspora, Bitch, Oi Polloi, Manifesto Jukebox, Scumbrigade, and more..." (R'Lyeh Rising #5)

"The zine is getting better with time given, this sixth issue has evolved from the last one. Still looks the same messy cutnpaste, but some of those pages laid out on a computer are increasing, especially the Scumbrigade interview looks very good and it's rather interesting. Other stuff are Oi Polloi, Manifesto Jukebox, Diaspora, Bitch and an article about war photographer Robert Capa. A reprint on anarchism and articles on a finnish activist festival and biotechnology (with resources/bibliography). With the interviews I would like this a lot better if the zine wouldn't ride with bands that are 100% sure popular at present. But maybe that's his 100% sure music taste... Like said this zine is getting better and there's a new issue already out." (Downsided #4)

Decay of a Civilization #2

"This is a comic zine - drawn well with good social commentary stories. It's a fast read - but enjoyable. (Chris)" (S&L #62)
