About Us

The Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Junior Cadet Program was created to further interest fire service related careers in young people. The county has two posts; each with its own 'district': the South Post, #1403, and the North Post, #1987. As a post, we provide first-aid support at many events in and around the county (Boy Scout Hikes/Campouts, BMX Track Rally's, Festivals etc), and we also assist & represent the Department in various functions (USAR team deployment, fundraisers, etc). Every week, we train in either fire suppression or EMS, and by these means we continually expose and teach our Cadets about different aspects of the job. Our members are allowed to ride various county Rescue units as part of the crew, and are exposed to the daily rigors and demands that the job of firefighter entails.
