When the last fire is quenched and the Devil is dead, what will become of our Firefighters? No, that's just an idle fantasy. We'll always have our Firefighters, because fire is an old God who is with us forever, we'll honor the Bravest and treasure them right there in the firehouses we've come to revere. As the Fire engine wails by, you hold your small child up and wave and the Firefighters wave back. "They wave back!" (Frank McCourt)
Hello, my name is Jeff Ownby; I am a 1st Class Firefighter / Medical First Responder with Whitfield County Fire Department / EMA. Whitfield County is located in the Northwest corner of Georgia. The City of Dalton is located in the middle of Whitfield County and is known as "The Carpet Capital of The World." Whitfield County has a population of around 88,000 and is very industrial as well as residential. I am a second generation firefighter; my father is currently the Assistant Chief at Whitfield County Fire / EMA. I joined the fire service in 1990 as a fire explorer with Dalton Fire Department Explorer Post 2404. When I turned 18 I started volunteering with WCFD and took a full time job with Dalton Fire Department after my 21st birthday. I worked with Dalton Fire Department for almost 4 years and am now employed with Whitfield County E-911. I still volunteer with WCFD and respond out of Station 1 (Pleasant Grove), which runs around 800 incidents each year with an Engine & Tanker.

I have been collecting fire service patches since I have been involved in the fire service. If you are interested in trading patches with me please select the
