The Presleys 2005
This year has definitely been a very busy year for everyone in the family, inside and outside our home. My company, Delta Wire Corporation, just finished a successful audit to transition to the ISO9000:2000 quality standard. Ciera and Javon are as busy as ever, participating in activities such as baseball, basketball, soccer, and dancing, with plans for the children to take piano and guitar lessons.
The biggest change for us this year is homeschooling. That's right. We decided to homeschool the kids this year. My wife spent the whole summer preparing for the kids' classes. I spent the whole summer trying to convince my mom and dad that we could do it (I had to convince myself also), but that's another story. As a matter of fact, the whole thing put a severe strain on our relationship as well as my relationship with my mom and dad, but we all came through it okay. I am happy to say that the children love homeschooling! I think my wife actually loves it more than they do! Oh yes, I'm the honorary superintendent of the Presley Family School District.
This year my son Javon is in fourth grade and Ciera is in kindergarten. Jensen is also benefitting from homeschooling, as his vocabulary is expanding, and he's trying to sing the ABC song. Javon is now a Webelo in Cub Scouts, which is right below a boy scout. He also received a couple of awards in soccer. Ciera played her second year of T-ball, and her first year of soccer. Her team actually won the League Championship this year. What did Ciera have to say when she was presented with her trophy? "Thank you for my championship!" Now what have I done this year, you ask? I did a little drag-racing in my 1996 Firebird Formula in Greenville, MS, and Memphis, TN, and I made a video about my fine ride and put it on the web! You can check it out by clicking on the Firebird Formula link. I also burned a DVD of my kids for their grandparents. It made a great Christmas present! I want to thank my good friend Andrea Stewart for helping me out with the videos.
