Episode 4 The Lair
The Chrysonagha Lair is a lot larger than the other places you've been to. As the episode begins, three Sanams shoot at you from afar. Kill them and head toward the green waterfall. As you cross the ledge, a red Sanam appears along with three stationary enemies that shoot at you. The red Sanam is the same as the mini-boss in episode 3. Stomp on the square in the center of the next room. Jump across the three newly activated pillars and stomp on the square located on the fourth pillar.
Keep climbing and watch out for enemies along the way. You should encounter a reptilian face sticking out of the wall. This new enemy can be killed by shooting it with a charged shot to the base of its neck the moment it strikes. Continue forward along the ascending path. Stomp on the square and just keep going. Walk along the edge of the walkway to skip fighting the wall creatures. Find the cracked red door and shoot it down. Dispatch the two enemies behind the doorway and enter the room. As you enter the First Reservoir, a confusing message appears stating that ememies can be hurt when Lona's relic armor is damaged. Ignore this. Activate the switch on the right wall and head to the other side of the room using the ledge. The ledge is blocked by three giant, greenish, living tubes. Use a charged shot to remove them, but be careful of the corrosive green fury pouring out of the wall. When you arrive at the circular red doorway on the other other side of the room, find three gray targets above and in front of you. Shoot them to activate the bridge. Continue into the pillar of light.
You emerge in a big room on a neat blue octagon (notice the cool carvings on the posts around you). This part is tricky. Run up the ramp and quickly kill the two sanams, being careful to not be hit by the giant mosquitoes. It's a good idea to keep moving around to avoid being hit. Take out the hive attached to the ceiling by shooting it with a charged shot, then you can kill the mosquitoes. Stomp on the raised octagon on the floor. At this point you can either check the room directly in front of you or keep climbing. This is Mika's prison cell. I recommend you ignore the it since you're going to come back later. Climb up the platforms until you reach another red door. This is the second reservoir, and it only has one enemy in it. Cross the segmented bridge and slay the lone sanam. Notice that the second door is locked; this won't open until you meet with Mika. Behind the closed door is a small ledge. Climb up and activate the R switch at the opposite end. Head back out into the main room and return to Mika's prison. Dispatch the enemies inside the prison if you didn't before.
Enjoy the cutscene. From what I understood, Waken is slowly turning into a sanam, and it is affecting his head, making him believe his friends aren't worthy of joining him. Even though he is turning evil, he still wants to find the source of the voices in his head to obtain information about the island. As the cutscene ends, you are imbued with power taken from Mika's armor. Three enemies await you outside in a clumsy ambush, making a racket trying to shoot through the wall. The first is directly in front of the door, so be ready to dodge as you open it. The other two are hiding just around each of the corners. Once they're out of the way, head back up to the second reservoir. The once-locked door is now open. Go through it, follow the path, and enter the pillar of light.
Moving with the utmost speed, climb the ramp, kill the sanams, destroy the hive, and kill the mosquitoes. You might want to move around on the bottom floor while you kill the sanams, but you need to climb the ramp to destroy the hive. Once all the enemies are dead, climb the ramps until you reach a red door. This is a save point.
Once you are done using the Ancestral Pod (save point), you will be attacked by three sanams. Step out of the save room and stomp on the red octagon on the floor. From here on there are no more enemies except for the boss.
For the final time, climb up the ramps and platforms to reach the final light elevator. Have you noticed that you've climbed like 30 stories already? Geez, the makers really want you to feel like you're climbing a whole mountain. This elevator takes you to the third and final reservoir, which lives up to its name and is actually filled with fury. The episode's boss, Mantis, lives here. (i guess)
Mantis has a hard shell, so don't bother shooting at it, just concentrate on avoiding it's attacks. It will swipe and slash at you, so keep jumping to avoid losing precious health. To actually hurt it, you must shoot the ceiling directly above the Mantis with a charged shot to drop rocks onto its back. Shoot the ceiling whenever you hear a high pitched buzzing sound, like that of a fly's. On easy mode it only takes one succesful attack, but it takes many more on the other modes. Now Mantis is dead, and the summit of the mountain is just outside.
