Day 2 - Part 7
-OK, there's definitely something wrong, Pie said.
-Yeah, Peach added. Where's Kristin?
-So good it be
-that rumors of their marriage are true?
-What rumors? Cara asked and got two angry pair of eyes on her.
-You know
-that they're not doing that well right now.
-Or been doing for over months now.
Cara looked how grin spread over Pie's face. She marveled reason for that but her dizzy brains couldn't come to any conclusion.
-So now what? Cara asked.
-Now what? Peach turned to see her. You wanted to talk with Nick? Now's your chance to go for it.
-And how do I do that?
-You have to decide that on your own, Pie advised. I'll give you just one hint; let him come to you.
Pie pulled her dress little lower to reveal more of her shapely breasts and walked across the room.
-She looks good, doesn't she? Peach sighed. Cara looked at Pie and nodded. Pie did look very good. Her blond hair was gathered up, just some curls were hanging down caressing gently her neck as she walked. Her smoke gray dress was low-cut in the back, revealing her tattoo just there where her back started to curve into bottom. She was wearing high heels, giving her 4 inches more length to her 5 feet 6 height. And the way she moved Suddenly Cara had hard time trying to relate that woman to Pie who she knew.
-I wish I'd look as good as she does, Cara whispered.
-Uh, look at that, Nick said as he spotted Pie. They all turned to see her. And Pie seemed to be aware the looks she got not just from the Boys and their dates. She disappeared to another room and Nick let out of long sight.
-That's mine, he said and stood up. Does anyone care to join me on my hunt?
-We're all taken, Brian reminded.
-But I could, Kevin stood up. I'd like to learn from the master.
Brian raised an eyebrow to him.
-Just to be able to seduce my wife over and over again, Kevin added.
-I'll be proud to show the old man how to hit a lady, Nick announced.
-Be sure you don't really hit anyone, AJ laughed.
Nick gave him a murdering look. -Just because some of us have pregnant girlfriend doesn't mean that anyone else shouldn't have fun.
After that Nick sailed away followed closely by Kevin. Brian shook his head.
-This can't be good.
He turned to see Leighanne who was still following those two men with her eyes.
-I just wonder she muttered.
Brian reached to take her hand to his.
-Kevin is a big boy. Sure he can take care of himself.
But Leighanne didn't seem satisfied with that.
Pie stood in the line waiting to get more champagne from the bar. She was feeling little lightheaded but needed something to hold so she wouldn't look stupid as waiting for her catch. But it came to her sooner than he thought.
-Have me met? she heard a voice next to her. Pie turned to see Nick, who was just about to kiss her hand. Pie lowered her chin just a hint to greet him.
-No I don't think so, she answered.
-You look familiar though, Nick said. You've been in a movie, right?
-Nah.
-So you're a singer? Nick tried, still holding her hand. Pie shook her head.
-You must be
Nick tried real hard but couldn't think any more guesses. Kevin in back of him grinned slightly.
-You must know who I am, right? Nick smiled to Pie sexiest way he knew.
-I know that Alanis Morissette has written a song about you.
-He has? Nick gave Kevin a quick, pleased glance.
-Yeah, Pie smirked to Nick. It's called Narcissus.
And before Nick realized what hit him, Pie had already walked away. Kevin chuckled and stared Pie with eyes screwed up.
-OK I need another target, Nick said. I'll go back to our table. Are you coming?
-You go ahead. I'll try to find men's room.
-Sure bro. Dont get lost.
-I wont.
It's becoming dark and I stand up to light the small lamp on the table. She's watching out from the window, as she's been doing almost all the time while telling the story. I don't mind, it gives me a good opportunity to observe her reactions to the things she tells me.
-What is that material you got with you? I encourage to ask when she doesn't continue.
-Oh, I'm not sure if we get that far tonight. You're not tired, are you?
-No, I say even if I've not slept well at the previous night.
-Good. It's just I thought I'd be accurate and keep the story short. But now I realize there's so much you need to know to understand everything that happens later. Everything is connected to everything. See?
-Yeah. Sure.
-I think I could eat something now. Could you call the room service and ask if they still have those marvelous sandwiches? I'd like one with onion and feta.
-No problem.
I reach to the phone and wait the reception to answer. I order sandwiches for both of us and some coffee. I trust her story to be interesting enough to keep me awake but I always want to double check everything.
