Day 2 - Part 6

Cara walked around the house again. It still amazed her. That you could actually walk from one room to another and finally come back to the place where you first started. In the middle of the house were the stairs to the second floor but Cara didn't feel like going wandering alone. She wanted to keep her eye on people coming in.
She leaned to the wall and waited. Some one stopped to talk her but then she showed her best idiot-smile. It was coming already quite easily as the pill girls gave was starting to affect. Occasionally she spotted Peach and Pie going around together but there was no sight of Ophelia. Cara sighed and wondered if the Boys were coming at all. Just then Howie walked in. That got Cara more intensive immediately. He was with a girl, apparently Alicia, a dancer he had been dating for over a year now. They looked good together. Unnoticed Cara started to follow them.

-If this is all, I'm soon going back, Peach said when they were dancing for the fifth song in a row. Howie and Alicia had mingled and finally ended up to the biggest room where was also dance floor. All the seats in that room were taken so that left girls no other chance than to dance. Well, you could also stand on ground but sooner or later you got someone bugging you. And for some reason Cara didn't feel like standing in a one point. She was really restless.
-Are you that nervous? Pie asked. �Look, this girl is shaking. Peach turned to look at Cara.
-You should take some more girl.
-Some more of what?
-Don't worry about that. It's good stuff. You want to make an impression on Boys, don't you? This is your key to that.
Peach slipped one more pill to Cara. It was different color than the first one. She looked it on her palm for one second.
-OK, throw it down or away but don't show it around! Pie whispered angrily. And without thinking Cara swallowed another pill too.

She almost choked on it because just then she saw Nick and AJ.
-Where's Helen? Peach asked.
-Probably feeling sick at home, Pie answered. �But where's the rest of those?
-Oh look, there's Brian and Leighanne.
Girls watched as guys got together hugging and slamming each other to the back.

-Hey man, what's up? AJ asked from Howie.
-Nothing much.
-Alicia good to see you. Enjoying the party? What is this anyway?
-Young, rising star, Howie informed. �Impatient of spending easy earned money on total strangers, as long as they are someone.
-So we're still someone? AJ joked.
-Oh hell, yes we are, Nick said. �You heard screaming outside.
-Just remember Nick that you're the only single of us, Brian reminded.
-Is Helen still very sick? Leighanne asked from AJ.
-I don't understand pregnant women. First they eat what ever they can and then they throw it up.
-Sure she's not just bulimic? Howie questioned.
-What's bulimic?
-Oh Nick, AJ sighed. �No she was just feeling like staying at home.
-But you're doing all right, right? Brian wanted to know.
-Yeah, pretty much. Pretty much so.
-Good. Very good, Brian said and gave her wife a knowing look. Leighanne shrugged to show that she was more worried about that other couple.
-So Kevin isn't coming? Howie read her thoughts.
-That's what I heard, Leighanne said.
-Well, you heard wrong, Nick said and nodded to the door. And yes, there he was, calm and good looking, scanning the room with his chilly eyes.
-Wonder where's Kristin? Leighanne mumbled as Kevin got to them.
-Good evening, fellows, Kevin said and bowed. �May I join your company?
-Sure. Take a seat, Howie offered.
Brian tried to catch his wife's eyes as he realized that Kristin really wasn't with his husband. But Leighanne avoided his look just because she didn't want to show I-told-you-so �smile to Brian.
