Day 2 - Part 5
-New Year’s party was in LA, she tells me as we are approaching the hotel. –We went there. Four of us, Ophelia, Peach, Pie and me. Reward hunters tried to get in too but luck wasn’t on their side. Though that night revealed something new from all of us.
-How did you get to the party? Don’t they have the highest security?
-They do. But after you’ve been around for a while you learn to know who is useful and who’s not.
-Sounds brutal.
She admits it. –On the road you pretty soon loose your idea of decency.
Ophelia leaned closer to Chris. He was one of the lucky bodyguards hired just for that party.
-So you mean there’s nothing you could do to get us in? Ophelia lowered her voice and offered Chris better view into her neckline.
-No, I’m sorry, Chris said but Cara noticed that he couldn’t keep his eyes off Ophelia. Cara turned and looked away as Ophelia touched gently Chris’ well-trained stomach.
-Nothing?
-Umm…
Ophelia’s hand slipped lower.
-Nothing?
-I guess… I guess I have to check from…
-Check from whom?
Now Ophelia was leaning so close to him her lips almost touched his ear.
-From the boss.
-Oh no no no. You don’t check from the boss anything, Ophelia whispered and grabbed his crotch little tighter. –Listen –
Ophelia had to lean bit backwards to check his name from his tag.
-Chris. If you do now as I say and let us in, I promise to search you in ten minutes and then…
Cara fought against sudden urge to cover her ears.
-You know.
Ophelia was using her most seductive tone of voice. Peach and Pie stood next to her, Pie bubbling gum and Peach smoking, both looking hot and sexy, like any other celebrity that kept going by them. Cara quickly scanned around that none of the familiar guards would be coming.
But Chris obviously knew.
-OK, go on then. But if you don’t come to me, I’ll throw you all out.
Ophelia smiled satisfied and didn’t say anything. Cara wondered how would she run away from Chris all night. But as soon as they got it she forgot everything else.
They were in the house of one rising movie star who was reported having an affair with Tom Cruise. House itself was completely round. Girls walked in and from one room to another until they were back in the hall.
-Did you see any? Peach asked.
-Nah, Ophelia said. –They must be still on their way.
-If they’re coming, Pie commented.
-Of course they’re coming! Ophelia looked around. –I’d better go find what’s his name Chris?
-Something like that, Peach said. –Do you want any?
-Definitely.
They went to the corner of the room. If you could call those corners in a place where all the walls were round. Peach rummaged her bag and gave Ophelia something.
-Who did you get these from?
-Leaf.
-Ain’t they coming?
-Not tonight. There’s plenty of parties in a town to try get points.
Ophelia turned to Cara.
-Want some?
-What is it?
-Don’t you want to have fun?
Hesitatingly Cara nodded.
-There you go. Take just one first. It shouldn’t get you too high.
Pie waved to the waiter who brought them four classes of champagne and with that divine drink they flushed down their way to happiness.
-Yeah, I’d better go, Ophelia said again. –I’ll see you girls later. Cara, have fun! Don’t get fucked up by some mid level star, please…
Ophelia vanished to the crowd.
-That was the last time I saw her that night.
We are standing in the elevator going up to my room. I’m having hard time swallowing everything she tells me. But the way she describes the places shows that she can’t be lying. Not about everything.
-Then what? Did you get to talk with…?
I do not want to mention any names. Bellboy is already looking us with suspicious look. As a girl looking like her shouldn’t walk around with someone like me.
-Not right away. You know, you always have tendency to hurry things?
-I guess I’m curios.
-Yeah, but it doesn’t get you anywhere. Remember, I tell you as much as I want to and when I want to.
-I try to keep that in mind.
-You should.
She sends me a wry smile as we get to my floor. We walk few meters and I open the door to my room. She walks in and looks around.
-It’s not as bad as I thought, she says.
-It could be better, I answer and take my coat off. She lets her jacket fall to the floor. I pick it up. She doesn’t even seem to notice that. She sits to the only chair I have in my room. That leaves the bed for me. I sit on the edge of it waiting her to continue.
