Big investment banks generally have a have real estate division and offer products such as mortgage-backed securities, collateralized mortgage obligations and commercial mortgage-backed securities. They also work with REIT stock and bonds as well as various investments in real estate assets. The job involves doing valuation of real estate assets and financial modeling for the deals. Some other tasks include interaction with the deal partners, visiting the properties and bringing in deals.

Property management


Real estate owners often hire property managers to operate their assets, make sure that the tenants are satisfied, rent is paid and the construction is in good condition. Property managers have close contacts with the tenants and should be experts in construction, leasing matters and market analysis.

Real estate development

The real estate developer is responsible for creating the concept of a property and executes the required steps in order to realize the project and eventually manage or lease the construction. The job includes market research and financial analysis. It is a risky but rewarding career in real estate.
